RE: Why is it so Important to Meet People Where They are At?
I always try to remind myself that each person was once a babe in their mother's arms. Between schools, the media, and the government, it is no wonder people find themselves in anger and confusion.
exactly, it's hard sometimes to do that, especially when some peoples behaviors can be very challenging. But there is too much divide between us all as it is.
So you probably know that I have a wide range of ages of kids. My oldest is 19, and when he was about 5 or so, he came to me with a question. Now it's useful to know that this kid was always way beyond his years, and he still is, but he came to me at about 5, and he said, "Mommy, I know it's wrong to kill people, but wouldn't it be ok to just kill Dick Cheney?" So, this is probably 2003 or 4. I realized right then the violence of the words I had been using when talking politics in his presence, and I told him with tears in my eyes, "no, honey. It's never ok to kill anyone, even Dick Cheney. Violence is never justified."
