7 Ways That Kids Help You To Remember to Live (Part 1)

At some point in our lives, a lot of us forget what it is like to see the world through the eyes of a child, and this I feel makes us lose out on some of the simple pleasures that life has to offer us.

So let’s take a look at some of the things that children do that can actually help us lighten our days and relieve us of some of our burdens, even if it is just for a couple of moments.

(1) They Have No fear (Sometimes)

Where and when does fear come into play? My kids have a fear of spiders already, that came from neither me or their Dad. I often get called out to remove one from their bicycles, or if one decides to have a go on their trampoline, no matter how small or big it is.

But when it comes to being spun around and heights, there is no fear. They just want to have fun and face it and do it again and again.

Would you do this?

Most importantly they want to have a go. One daughter really loved the anti-gravity g-force thing above and the other hated it, but she wasn’t afraid to try.

She might have loved it. No regrets.

(2) They Go After Impossible Dreams

They have ambitions and dreams that they are not afraid to go for, whether that is being a professional footballer, joining the circus, going on Britain’s Got Talent for training the guinea pigs to do circus tricks, or being a fairy when they grow up or a famous vlogger. Their imaginations and dreams are in full swing, and I try hard not to quash any of their ideas, but explore them further and ask them what they need to do to get there.

What’s your impossible dream? Are there steps you can take to make it happen (even it it is only partly reached).

For example, if your “impossible dream” is to be an astronaut, but you are not physically able you could write stories about what you imagine it would be like, or base that story on imagination and research and lose yourself in the story, as you write it

(3) Everything is Worth it When You Have Rewards…

So you living room is a mess? Then give the children an incentive to do it. It will get done, especially if it is a tangible treat or going out somewhere to do something fun.

What I am in process of this week is, “if you want to invite the kids next door to play on the games console, then the living room floor and desk needs to be tidy. They need a little more reminding - it is unfortunately not a fail-proof system for adults or kids.

Last night, I said tidy up and some reading time would be the reward and it worked a bit.

But for adults, the reward can be things like peace of mind for getting the rent paid on time.

(4) They Never Forget To Have Fun (Even if its Naughty)

When the house goes quiet, you know that the kids are having fun and up to no good, whether the bathroom has turned into a swimming pool, there is new art on the wall, or your make up supply is significantly diminished and their best new clothes are ruined.

When you walk in and see the guilty looks on their faces, then you look around the area that they are in and take a deep breathe and count to 3.

But it was fun while it lasted. If it doesn’t do anyone any harm, then what’s the harm?

We must never forget to have fun, even it if it is a tiny bit naughty.

I agree very well with the dreams and fun part, I often wonder how our world would be if we all learn to deams and go after our dreams like we did when we were kids.

Indeed that's how children are. Thanks for the reminder, where is the time we where kids right.

being a kid back again is so much fun :) we learn with curiosity too

Most of us have forgotten to have fun when we're already grown up. And I dare to say that we might feel ashamed about trying to have fun again because we are afraid about what other people might say about us.

But it is just how we've been raised. There's this wrong concept about responsibility which some people believe that is has to be boring. And if we dream or dare to do what we love, we might be labeled as immature individuals.

We just need to express our true personality. The one that we manifested when we were discovering the world around us. Otherwise, life would have no point or grace for anybody.

Children are not afraid of what people think, I think that will be included in the next part as a bonus one. Thank you. Yes, the key is to be true to yourself.

the truth is that they remind us to live even to solve small problems in unthinkable ways, full of innocence
