3 days late, but i had to wait incase a few last minute jewels showed up! I have had such an inspiring and fun time reading your answers this week! Wow was I asking the right people! There were so many beautiful and common ideas that you have shared, and many of them also so important to me and my Steem ecoVillage project. Priorities are everything, and so it was an amazing question that @artemislives gave to me.. To narrow it down to three points really makes you question what is most important. So Thank you for your amazing responses. Some of my favourite themes (in no particular order) that have come up in our posts are:

organic and natural farming, community,
engagement, freedom, self sufficiency,
diversity, purpose, security,
shared community spaces.

I wrote a post about non-violent communication, and for me that being the most important thing in my ecoVillage of Tomorrow. I have been really learning a lot about NVC lately, and have been practicing speaking this new language with a friend. It is a bit contrived at first, because speaking with 'a Giraffe Heart", and listening with "Giraffe Ears" is a new way to be, and it takes time to get used it and for it to come naturally, like a new language. I would like to share the essence of this amazing new world of non violent communication with you with an example about how we complement each other. We are used to giving complements to someone by saying "You are beautiful"... but if we speak with a giraffe heart, then instead we will say "You make me feel beautiful!" Do you feel the difference? When we speak with a Giraffe heart then it is so nicer to receive it, and it doesn’t have labels or other connotations, conditions and so on!

The awards and prizes are below the entries! Enjoy!

This is a great question, and one that I have in fact thought a lot about over the years, including all the years I lived in apartments and condos, wistfully thinking of some future day when I would finally have some acreage on which to realize my dreams. But, while I'd like to host a mini ecovillage of sorts on my place, I've always thought of it more as a place to host events, such as writer's and music retreats, rather than as an actual village intended for year round living. Call it the loner in me, but I'm a westerner by birth and in my heart, and as much as I love people, I've learned well over the years that I need both space and alone time. So my thought on this place has always been more along the lines of having half a dozen or so small cabins, each completely private with its own deck and small garden, situated amid some perennial food bearing plants on different parts of the property . . . say two or three above and overlooking the river, a couple further into the woods, and perhaps a couple closer to the clearing near the studio, where I plan to eventually put in an outdoor shower.

The 3 things most important to me in the eco-village of tomorrow? - @EcoTrain QOTW

This week @EcoTrain QOTW - What are the 3 things most important to me in the eco-village of tomorrow?

Living off the Grid - A dream for many of us. Honestly until I joined Steemit and came across @eco-alex something like this was never on my mind. Though sometimes in our family we used to talk about how we can live minimally. The amount of things that we owe, of it almost more then 50% of it is not required. The amount of gadgets we hold we barely use, the so many things that we get at home half of it is all garb. But still all said and done I don't think I am yet 100% prepared to go completely off the grid but yes 50% for sure. Thankfully me and my husband both are simple people when it comes to our lifestyle, we like to spend our finances on travelling rather than buying expensive gadgets. Once in a while we enjoy our fine dining experiences, but majorly both of us enjoy travelling and we save up a lot for that all the time.

@minismallholding

In recent years the idea of eco villages seems to be gaining traction. Communes, or communities, have been around in various guises for a long time, but as we become more aware of how the way we're living is impacting the environment, and indeed ourselves, more people are turning towards thoughts of eco living. The natural path eventually leads to the eco village, because it’s hard to really become self sufficient and less reliant on consumerism without others with similar goals around you. Community becomes essential to unhook from the system.

@stortebeker

It's Question of the Week time on the @ecotrain, and this time there are PRIZES to be won. I just happen to be in the lucky situation that my day is relatively relaxed, and I saw the recently published prompt post, so I may be the first one to answer. (I know, I know: That's not going to make me a winner, it's my post that needs to be convincing.)

This week's question is: What 3 things are most important to you in the eco-village of tomorrow? Fortunately, this is something I've thought about long and hard... So let's see, what are the three most important things for me:

1. Diversity Okay, just because I mention it first doesn't mean it's not the number one priority. Though I still think diversity should be up in the top three. And yes, this includes ... a lot! Obviously, the usual stuff we tend to think of when someone mentions the word: diversity of cultures, religious faiths, genetic backgrounds, sexual orientations, etc. But I would even include such things as levels of education, preferred activities, and things that make one feel comfortable. Because these things are not the same for all of us!

@artemislives

Chiang Mai in Northern Thailand seems to attract a disproportionate number of traveling people wanting to start eco-communities. I hear it literally 2 or 3 times per week, every week. Accompanying that first "I wanna come and live here in an eco-community", there is often a fairly predictable stream of qualifying statements:

  • no one understands them
  • they have disowned their family
  • they're completely broke and often heavily in debt
  • they use a fake name
  • they are a victim of everything from the government to financial extortion, the health system, rapacious ex-lovers and stalkers
  • they have absolutely no idea what they want to DO in this community, beyond smoking weed, sleeping and foraging for natural abundance
  • they want other people to teach, show, encourage, support and uplift them
  • the community will save them.

Having had a health and natural products store in the extraordinarily busy touristy part of the 720 year old walled city (enclosed by a moat) for many years, "I wanna start a community" has been an almost everyday occurrence. To the extent where my go to response to the words ecoVillage or eco-community have, for many years, been *"FOOK NO!

@eco-alex

The most important things to me in a successful and harmonious ecoVillage are the things that are most important for everyone’s happiness and well-being. A non functional community would never be a nice place to live no matter how well it was built, or any amount of comfort and luxury it may have. Ultimately, the ecoVillage of tomorrow should be the place where everyone has their most important needs met, their voice heard, and a safe space for us to live our lives with freedom of expression and non violence.

1. Natural Giving / Non-Violent Communication (NVC). When I speak of non-violence I am not only speaking about physical violence. This point must surely be my first and most important aspect of the ecoVillage of tomorrow. I have been learning a lot lately about non-violent communication, and it has been a real eye opener to say the least! I think that this has to be one of the least understood concepts and yet the most important in our modern times. There are only a handful of people who really understand what non violent communication really means, and let me tell you it is about much more than not being angry or aggressive when we speak. It is genuinely a new paradigm of communication, based on natural giving, and centred around communication that does not label another, blame another, and plays no part in the I’m wrong you are right game. What it is really about is being able to identify our needs, and then communicating them in such as way as to open the door to a resolution.

@ayjoe

Ecovillage is a spatial and territorial concept that takes into account the quality of the population and the ecological quality holistically because it involves all dimensions of the life of living things. Ecovillage includes four aspects, namely ecology, social, spiritual, and economic. #wikipedia

My great hope is that with the existence of Ecovillage, I can build an independent community, the sense of mutual cooperation that has been eroded can return.

In various regions in Indonesia, many have been programmed and assisted by the government, there are those who call it bio village and so on. Bali also this year has begun implementing the zero plastic crackle bag regulation.

I left home while working, along the way, there were 3 points that I saw that the Denpasar City Government had done, namely:

@mrnightmare89

So here we are again at another question of the week by @ecotrain. It became more interesting because they have now prizes to share, kindly visit this post 75 STEEM are waiting there to rewards of the winner.

I'm writing about how my life in our place and what kind of life I have now. Although I'm just a simple person there are few things what I want in my life. Sometimes I wrote how hard is my life but I never said that I don't want this kind of life. It's just that there were time's obstacles were too heavy to handle. Rich or poor in life have problems in different ways. Now if I'll be ask what are the 3 things are more important to me in the future to come.

@riverflows

Many years ago now, I lived in a ramshackle community of some thirty to forty itinerants and possibly three times as many dogs, that would greet me happily at the gate with tails wagging as if they were pleased to help me with lugging shopping over a muddy field to where the home fires were burning. It was one of the most welcoming sights, to see the home fires burning. No matter how stressful the day, everything would diffuse around a gallon drum of burning hazel and oak, a smoke and a cider or two and a laugh and a yarn. The trucks and caravans, all installed with woodfires, would be puffing away, their insides warmed against the cold winter.

@zeleiracordero

The future is not here at this time, but to obtain dream results, a posteriori, you have to project and work on the current present, you must seek clarity and enlighten yourself with positive thoughts and a lot of willingness to change. As we go, I include myself, there is really no way out of the chaos that we have caused in our world, in our Mother Earth, because awareness is not enough, we must work hard with the change of human status and, unfortunately, the changes cause rejection in the common of people, accustomed to living in the illusion created by the mind, accommodated in a reality where pleasure and easy life constitute the "summum aspirationem".

@olivia08

Have a great day my friends!

How great question of the week now and I appreciated @ecotrain for this inspiring and interesting initiative.

The question:
What 3 things are most important to you in the eco-village of tomorrow?

These will be my plan B! As I'd said before I am working away from my homeland. I decided after this latest contract I signed up this year, I will be home for good by the grace of God. Last night, I had a dream about my future will be. What a coincidence to this week question by @ecotrain. It was just a dream and it's up to me to work for it. The first thing I wanna be is to live a simple life living in my province. A kind of eco-friendly native house, a nipa hut made of bamboo. It will be look like this.

@wakeupkitty

@ecotrain's QOTW: What 3 things are most important to you in the eco-village of tomorrow?

I never thought about living in an eco-village.

I am not such a people person and people close is a guarantee for trouble and stress.

I go live outside of the village.
A must for me is to be as self-sufficient as possible. In the woods would be fine I have memories of a long time ago, a pond or small river and a bit of grass I need for my cow and goat plus the chickens. Their instinct will tell them what is good food for them.

I always wanted fruit trees.
A garden where I can walk outside and pick some fruit for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Berries I want too and some hazelnut and walnut trees. I eat myself a way through my garden and hug my trees without suffering from allergies.

@owasco

What on earth is an ecoVillage? My fantasy is of a group of people with an array of cultural backgrounds, interests, talents, skills, and views all living in proximity (but not too close!), sharing the tasks of communal needs, and jumping in to help if someone is floundering on a personal level. When I am reminded of the strife that exists in my extended family alone however, I wonder if it could ever work. Then I remember that people coming together for a common cause can do wondrous things.

I have no idea how an ecoVillage would be structured politically or socially, so I choose to answer this question with three tangible components that I feel are fast becoming things of the past but are absolutely necessary to provide us with any kind of future. These presuppose a whole lot of cooperation among the members of the community.

@porters

My suggestions for an eco-village of tomorrow, based off my experience, would be:

1)To find a natural setting, with access to good water - a place where you want to live and feel drawn too.

We were fortunate to have a small lake where there was land available (it was owned by a couple of the member's families). The lake was called Clearwater and thus our community took on the name of Clearwater Community.
It was fabulous, after a hard days work building our homes, to all meet at the lake for some skinny dipping and to relax and enjoy each others company!
People purchased there own pieces of land and a parcel of land was donated for the community hall. This seemed to work best with people investing into their property which added to their commitment. One thing that was rather sad though, was when some money came into the community, given to each individual (matching forgivable loans from the government for building your home) which made us less reliant on each other to make things happen. This kind of caused a drifting apart.

@trucklife-family

"What 3 things are most important to you in the eco-Village of tomorrow? "

This is the latest question put forward by the EcoTrain. @eco-alex has shared his vision about creating an Steem Eco Village based on the natural giving. So this question is to help plant the seed and spread awareness. To get those who are interested in living off grid in a sustainable community, the opportunity to share with us all what is important for them, to share what their vision is.

I have visited a few different communities down through the years and I now live off grid, surrounded by a very creative, diverse community. Everyone lives in alternatively in yurts, trucks, teepee's, and is very independent in their daily lives, yet love to come together to celebrate life, through music, art and song.

As a single mum of 3 kids, I find myself longing for a more day to day involved community. Where we work more closely together. I do however also love my own company, so I would need to create a balance that works for me, and the community. I have really thought about this question a lot and it was difficult to narrow it down to 3 things. But alas I have and they all really flow into one another.

AWARDS AND PRIZES!

@ecotrain We are sure that it was a difficult task, but we are also convinced that it was very satisfying because you can see how you are transmitting your way of thinking, this We feel is becoming a movement EarthShip, and that is wonderful.
We know that much remains to be done, and in some countries it will be more difficult to enter with this kind of thoughts, goes against many traditional things and ways of thinking of governments, but despite that, will manage to constitute itself as a new way of living life.
We send you a hug from Venezuela.

Thank you for the chance to participate in such a fun and challenging contest! It honors me to be chosen a winner, and I want to extend my congratulations to @riverflows and @zeleiracordero too!
