I've seen this technique work and it's AMAZING!!! You left out #9 - Compost the mulchy gunk at the bottom. :)
Bear in mind that moringa seeds have enormous value as a food source, a protein source and a source of healing oil. Using them in this way is only when it's a MUST - otherwise such a waste and charcoal works too.
