I investigated such a technique for myself here in Missouri, but the clay in our soil is very elastic, tending to well and contract by multiple inches per year. Thus rubble trenches tend to slide apart and lose structure over time.

In most other places this is a fabulous idea. I look forward to many more of your posts. Best of luck in your project.
