Economy is a Factor of Why Students Drop out of School in Indonesia
Economic factors are the main factor that causes students to drop out of school in Indonesia.
This, according to Totok Amin Soefijanto, consultant for the Indonesian Education Capacity and Analysis Development Partnership (ACDP), based on UNICEF data, is based on economic factors.
"Most Indonesian children prefer to help parents to work in the economic sector," Totok said in an education discussion about 12-year compulsory education at the Ministry of Education and Culture.
From my review ... so far the opportunity to work for school-age children is very open.
Therefore, economic factors are not good, so children prefer to work that makes money compared to learning, without realizing it, education is actually a way out of poverty conditions themselves.
In addition, said Totok, another factor that caused the dropout condition was the absence of teachers at school.
"Teacher absence from school is one of the reasons students drop out of school. So, if teachers don't go to school, how do students want to go to school," said Totok.
Then, he also said that the teacher might go to school but not go to class. As a result, students learn not to get teacher assistance and tend to choose not to attend school.
Not only that, there are currently widespread smoke problems in regions in Indonesia that reduce school hours.
In addition, school funds that are not on target are also reasons for student absence from school.
