The IRS will be obtaining the identities of 14,355 cryptocurrency users who have bought, sold, or sent more than $20,000 in cryptocurrency. The IRS originally attempted to obtain records for EVERY user on Coinbase. The year-long court battle ended with users who bought, sold, sent or received more than $20,000 worth of cryptocurrency being targeted.

Hmmm, I hate that the government wants to earn every penny out of us.

not "earn",,, STEAL - ROB - Take By FORCE

Wasn't this one of the biggest reasons why people invested in Bitcoin? No tax reporting for capital gains? Once you have to pay taxes that is at least a 15% hit possibly as high as 30% on your income from this investment.

20000 thats pretty low for them

The blockchain can be controlled. Government just pays them or threatens them and they will say how the chain works.

News like this don't surprise me.

We are safe in the UK then, for now! Well, I don't quite have over $20,000 of cryptocurrency yet either, but maybe this time next year...
