Bazhenov Formation gives a second chance to Russian oil producing regions

This is the opinion of technological center of Gazprom Neft. Experts believe that Bazhenov formation, like other sources of HTR oil, can give a second chance to the oil-producing regions of Russia, where the production of traditional hydrocarbon reserves reduces.

By the way, now Russion Bazhenov formation produces about 600–800 thousand tons of oil per year. Gazprom Neft considers that it will be able to increase this capacity to 10 million tons in 2025 for the country. In the future, the company will bring the production of Bazhenov oil to 50 million tons per year by 2030, which today is almost 10% of the annual production in Russia.

The plans are really great! But, this is not surprising according to various estimates, the reserves of the formation is from 18 to 60 billion tons.

It is also important that the composition of oil from Bazhenov is of high quality. It is light, low-sulfur and low-viscosity. And it is possible that due to these characteristics we will soon learn about the new Russian oil brand.
