School Makes Us Think Like Employees

in #economics6 years ago (edited)

The school educates us to think like employees, it may sound controversial... But I am controversial, and when you really think about it, at least, you have to give me some reason, the current education system has not adapted to the new age, the information age, and this is a rather important problem, not only because it creates problems on a personal level, for people who only receive school education, it also creates or will create economic problems because these people are not preparing properly for the "new economy".

What do they teach you in school?, academic education, important, of course, is something basic that each person has to know, read, write, some math, history, among others... "A little bit of everything", then there is professional education, where you will prepare yourself to become a professional, learn strategies, techniques, information about your career and more... What is the problem?, it is simple, this system is based on the industrial era, it is based on creating personnel to meet the demand for jobs that existed after the abolition of slaves, but the world is changing... In fact, it has changed, it is no longer the same as 100 years ago, 50 years ago, 20 years ago, or 2 years ago, the world changes every three months... Or every day, if we get too detailed, therefore, education has to change, the new era requires it.

The education system has great problems with the methodology of "educating its students" in great part of the world, standardized tests become as ridiculous as asking an elephant or a fish to climb a tree, they do not teach important things like critical thinking, basic economics, politics, cinema, philosophy, does not encourage creativity or personal development, today education in great part of the world seeks to create robots with the aim of graduating and working for a company as employees and not create thinking beings who can undertake and create their own products or businesses to be competitive in the new economy.

You're not smart or stupid because you have a grade on an exam on a subject that probably doesn't interest you, this kind of classification is what destroys dreams, since you're a child we're taught that the system is the law and that dreams are useless, maybe it's also the fault of parents who have always put it in our heads "If you don't get good grades you'll be nobody in life", or things like that, The fact is that by classifying us as dumb, regular and intelligent being simple children and being saturated with homework, it destroys motivation, creativity and dreams. If you get bad grades and they tell you that you are dumb, you will probably have little motivation, and if they keep you constantly busy and stressed with homework you don't have free time to develop your creativity and dream about what you want to achieve.

They train us to be "just" employees, they educate us to keep busy doing tasks on the pretext of teaching us "responsibility" and they teach us to seek the approval of others... And that we care about such approval, this is ridiculous, for example, Alexander The Great was a fantastic example of what Motivation and Dreams can help you achieve if your education is good and you work for it, Aristotle said he could be a great conqueror, the best conqueror... Who was Alexander The Great?... Exactly. Mentality is important when it comes to achieving our dreams, work and effort together with information and the way we educate ourselves. This is why being self-taught is so important today, because the education system teaches us practically nothing that makes us grow as individuals.

The brain is the most wonderful thing we have, everything around us was created thanks to it, from the toothpaste we use every day, to a space rocket, someone imagined it all, dreamt it all up. Steve Jobs, Nikola Tesla, Albert Einstein, Bill Gates, all the great geniuses we remember today are remembered because they did fantastic things for humanity, they did things that came out of their minds, they were dreamers, they were educated and worked to achieve their dreams and in the process they improved the lives of millions, all thanks to education and mentality. All of them thinked and think like entrepreneurs.

Financial education is also very important, knowing how to use, manage and understand money, why don't they teach this in schools?, this is something that everyone needs to know!, they don't do it, they don't want to or it's not convenient for them. Anyway, this is just one more thing we will have to learn on our own, unfortunately... Or fortunately. At the end of the day, sometimes it seems that schools should be for parents, so that they learn how to educate their children to think and they learn how to learn to dream, unlearn to learn.

Children are already dreamers, schools are the ones that unfortunately "beat" them until they are no longer, that will remain so until there is a change in the system, we need creators and entrepreneurs, not robots. Until then, parents need to educate their children so that the school does not turn them into another "product of the system", that is why it is important to read books about dreams and entrepreneurship. Thanks for reading, peace.
