We need to more aggressively address the addiction issue that is the fueling West Coast homelessness crisis in Seattle, Portland, San Francisco, and Los Angeles (and other cities and towns large and small). The current policies are not working. The Rhode Island policies discussed on a great documentary ("Seattle is dying" -

) may be part of the answer. Ignoring the problem, tolerating vagrancy and petty crimes, and mislabeling the problem as homelessness caused by a lack of affordable housing are unhelpful. These people need help, not pandering or sympathy.
