United States raised the defence budget to US $700 billion

in #economic7 years ago (edited)

Why should they hold back if they can print dollars without restrictions? To make it look "even better", some teachers, nurses, and officials will be fired ... A slim state that spills public money with military hijacking to a military-industrial complex. The US Senate has allocated an additional US $90 billion to the military budget in 2018, with $ 700 billion a year in the Pentagon (China as the second most powerful country allocates "only" $ 215 billion to the military)

The senators approved the new National Defence Authorization Act (2018), which envisages expenditure of $ 700 billion. According to some information, more than $ 60 billion are spent on operations by the US military in the Middle East. This law (Senators voted with 89 votes in favour and 8 against), has so greatly increased the already largest military budget in the world, as the previous one was limited to 549 billion dollars.

In last month, August 2017, Senator John McCain said they would increase the defence budget to include a strategy for US forces in Afghanistan. The Pentagon is currently increasing its military presence in Afghanistan in line with the new strategy issued by President Trump. Air strikes on the positions of the Islamic State (ISIS, Daesh) in Iraq and Syria continues.

An additional $ 150 billion also includes funding for additional F-35 and F / A-18 super hornet aircraft, as well as the purchase of naval ships and an increase in the missile defence program in Alaska.

This is madness!

The only good thing ever came out of the military are the new technologies. Military competition is pushing the development, and we are all using the inventions in daily life. For example GPS, RFID, radars and many more.

But this is really the only thing, we actually use. Like....mobile phones. Something like "smart phones" or their predecessors, were already in use in 1980s by american military

The list of military inventions used today goes way beyond this post.

One link will do the trick today:

it's a shitty argument to say that new products come out of armed conflict. the space race produces equally fascinating technology and products. Can you imagine if we spent the $1.27trillion on collectively exploring space.. now that would be a global military to be truly proud of.. defending the world against rogue asteroids and malevolent aliens ! (be careful what you wish for)

Well, if you count all innocent people killed by army forces, you can not be proud of any military at all. It can only be a disgrace (except if country has domestic military for defence). Just my opinion. This money could be financed into hundreds of other things.

Of course good things do come out of war, (unfortunately). Maxo-facial surgery was developed as a response to horrendous injuries in World War1. I'm sure many other medical procedures were refined on the horrifically wounded and dying. If yesterday's activity in Nevada suggests one thing. War produces an excess of high powered firearms. Military developments do filter through to civilian goods but I always wonder what amazing things could be achieved by a peace army. They should be the disaster zone angels everywhere. (they often are) with organisational, engineering and ordnance capabilities beyond everyone else. They should be saving Elephants from extinction, rebuilding Puerto Rico and a million other things. It's a sad world at the moment. I thought the 21st Century was going to be all sci-future peace and renewable energy.. Ah well, there's another 82 and a bit years to get there.. minus the elephants and most of the other animals in the world !

why is North Korea not there in the list? I find it strange
Anyway I just followed u, will u follow me back? I've uploaded some amazing content do check it out :)

North Korea spends only 15 billion USD per year ;) I know, funny. Isn't it? So instead of that propaganda on TV, american and european media could show that South Korea spends more than twice for military as North Korea. But that will not happened as South Korea is like a little puppet from US, plus EU and US are always working together
