Venezuela has agreed to consider lifting the commercial boycott with the Caribbean islands of Aruba, Bonaire and Curaçao, for alleged cases of contraband, when its government and Parliament reviews, discusses and signs a draft to solve the problem.

The official decision was made Friday night during a meeting, and that after it, Dutch Foreign Minister Halbe Zijlstra said the amnesty "could take a while" to be lifted.

The Venezuelan president, Nicolás Maduro, ordered last weekend the closure for 72 hours of the communications by air and sea of the oil country with Aruba, Curaçao and Bonaire to start an operation that ends with the smugglers "that damage the economy to Venezuela. "

Maduro, however, has extended for an indefinite period the commercial boycott, which includes the export of fruits and vegetables to these Caribbean islands because they are presumably scarce in the South American country.

In the same way, he asked to stop the smuggling of copper and gold.

These three islands are located a few kilometers from the coast of the Falcon state of western Venezuela.

And, due to the aerial boycott, residents of Aruba and Curaçao who recently traveled to Venezuela, have had to stay in the South American country, as Venezuelans who want to return to their homes, have not been able to do so either.

For its part, the Prime Minister of Aruba, Evelyn Wever-Croes, told reporters that the meeting "although it was intense, it was constructive and ended positively".

Wever-Croes mentioned that several issues were discussed during the rally, including the products that were being smuggled from Venezuela to the islands.

"We also agree on regulations and regulations that apply to import and export to and from our countries," said Wever-Croes, who confirmed that both parties agreed that stranded passengers will return to their countries "as soon as possible."
