Lightning above cities

The rise in temperature and air pollution actively contribute to the emergence of lightning above the cities. It turned out that it is smaller than over adjacent rural areas, and the number of them is the greater, the higher the concentration of pollutant gases.
Air pollutants:

1. main (criterial) air pollutants - carbon monoxide, sulfur dioxide, nitrogen oxides, hydrocarbons, solid particles and photochemical oxidants;
2. polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs);
3. traces of elements (mostly metals);
4. constant gases (carbon dioxide, fluorochloromethanes, etc.);
5. pesticides;
6. abrasive solid particles (quartz, asbestos, etc.);
7. a variety of contaminants that have a multifaceted effect on the body, [nitrosamine, ozone, polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), sulfates, nitrates, aldehydes, ketones, etc.
