Total Eclipse 8/21 and the Big Day

Columbia South Carolina

Living in a small capital city has it's advantages. We have everything a big city has to offer only much more affordable. I have a rental home in Downtown Columbia that after leaving the neighborhood you can see the state capital. This is a small brick bungalow but is an affordable $130k. We have art museums, top notch zoo, health care, military (Fort Jackson), and the University of South Carolina.

Total Eclipse coming 8/21

Columbia is marketing being a mid size city and boasting one of the longest full blackout total eclipse periods. There are parties planned everywhere and people getting there homes listed on Airbnb.

View this link for detailed information on the events being held in Columbia during this eclipse. People from all over are traveling here for this truly once in a lifetime event.

Irony of Living in a College Mid-Size City

I am writing this article because I kind of laughed when I saw another event coming just slightly afterwards. With this being a smaller town you can get a cult like following around big events. Let me tell you, I am now transitioning to Southern talk. We are now going to talk religion. We are going to talk about SEC Football.

September 2: The Next Big Day (College Football)

That is right, Saturday September 2nd is the day of the first University of South Carolina Game. It will be our opportunity to travel to Charlotte, North Carolina and remind NC State Wolfpack what football is all about. It is time to unleash our offensive weapons.

Why am I writing these two in the same post. Because when I saw a picture of a football ticket for September 2nd I was full of life. I once came back from Paris early so I could watch the home opener at Williams Brice Stadium.

Come for the Eclipse because it will be one of a lifetime. Enjoy the friendliness of the south. However, make certain you wear a Gamecock shirt as you celebrate.

I wish I could come join you for the eclipse.

Great article @realestatecoach!

Go Cocks!

Great post, thanks for sharing! I gave you a vote. I hope you enjoy it.

yea your city is right in the path. I live in michigan so I won't have the sight you will get down there but I am still excited.

Columbia, S.C., is America's third largest city on the center line of the path of totality, with the longest total solar eclipse on the East Coast. This is a big deal.
