Eastlink Hotel

For a while after Eastlink motorway was completed and I started using it, I would see the Eastlink Hotel. Most times I wouldn't give it a second thought.



I never bother to look up who built it or why. I assumed that it was unfinished project. If the trip was a particularly long or boring I would imagine what other uses this structure could have. E.g. Escape point for a underground research facility if things went wrong.

After a while I did look it up, and the reality wasn't as good. From the Eastlink Hotel website "Hotel is a large scale model of a high rise hotel. It will sit alongside EastLink in an open field. Hotel is effectively a giant folly. Motorists will view it from the car as an actual hotel........."
