Venezuelan Viacrucis

in #easter6 years ago
Hello, I am from Venezuela, a mostly Catholic country, and for Easter one of the most important traditions is the procession of the Nazarene or viacrucis. This is done in almost the whole country, on Holy Wednesday, and it is considered one of the religious festivities celebrated in Venezuela with more affluence of people during the commemoration of Holy Week.

This is one of the most widespread practices among Catholics because it refers to the different stages or moments lived by Jesus from the moment he was apprehended until his crucifixion and burial. That is why the word viacrucis is commonly used as equivalent to difficulty.

This year has been one of the worst for Venezuelans who have practically lost the hope of recovering our tranquility and well-being, every day there are more children eating from the garbage and people dying due to lack of medicines, this is a reality, it is not about a media show to overthrow a dramatically elected government.

That is why this year in one of the churches with the greatest tradition in the country decided to change the cross that Jesus had to carry in the figure of the Nazarene for the flag of Venezuela as a form of protest regarding the hopelessness that now overwhelms the people Venezuelan because of all the difficulties he has to face on a daily basis.
