Since the Steem blockchain became a centralized, top-down dominated place, where control and censorship thrive, I have decided to move my content. Don't worry, though, all my posts and up and doing well on the decentralized Hive blockchain. Come and check it out!

UGGH. Dealing with paper work sounds like a very little bit of fun if any. Good for you for sticking it our though. I've heard too many stories from folks who just want to build their own home who end up forced into compliance on threat of having their structures destroyed. I worked on one straw bale home who needed to install a septic tank ($8000) that they never even wanted in the first place.

Happy to hear you're making progress. If I've learned anything since moving to our homestead is that building take WAY longer and cost WAY more than we initially though. Keep pounding away!

Thanks for the encouraging words, @mountainjewel! Of course I'll be sticking through, at least till the end of August, when I'll be embarking on another adventure. But until then, I'll be pounding away, and posting about it. :-)

great to see an update!
sorry it was so slow! ;-( As is often the case on new builds.. Great they they are persevering and going through the hoops now so everyone in future can benefit. Heidi and Pavlov just finished their UK earthship, and did the same.. It was HARD long work, but now they have an incredible model with a government stamp, awards, and even an official Negative Carbon Footprint!!

Those tyres look rather shiny and new compared to what im used to lol.

is this earthship going to be buried?

Heidi and Pavlov in the UK? Sorry, don't know them, but would love to. I'm also sureTony and Susan would be interested in connecting with them, as they are striving for the same thing, including the "net zero" energy classification.

The tires? Hahaha, I know. Nothing like what we dug out on Mexican garbage dumps.

Yes, it will be buried, but first we gotta put in crazy insulation and drainage pipes!

sounds like a proper job..
you can find Heidi and Pav here.. they are great people to connect with!

I dream of an earthship, or cob house, or tiny house. But yeah, they are threateningly anal about these rules here (like, if you're in a tiny on wheels, that's considered "camping" and you're not allowed to camp on your own land more than six months at a time. I met someone who every five months goes and spends the night in a hotel and keeps receipts in case they are called out). How is that rule about "safety" or the public good? Ugh.

I know, being kept from doing epic things due to overregulations.

I just love bureaucrats and red tape. NOT! They tend to make a simple job become an impossible task. Just keep on plugging a way and sooner or later you will have done what you set out to accomplish.

Yeah, that's what I keep hearing from places like Jamaica or India, and that's what I've seen in Mexico myself: just pay them off... Oh, the benefits of the third world.
