B: Saving our oceans.

Water is our essential life source. Without it we experience thirst, and without it we remember why the simplest needs in life are the most important.

However, given that about 97.5% of the world’s water is salt water, our supply of fresh water will eventually dwindle in availability, as with the complexity of the water cycle, there will not be enough fresh water available at all times to quench the thirst of a growing global population.

Thus, it is essential that we save our oceans, as we must protect these havens of life and our potential saving grace, when mass desalination becomes the only way for our world to maintain an adequate potable water supply.
We must protect the water that we one day may hope to drink.

Additionally, the oceans contain some of the Earth’s most awe-inspiring wildlife, much of which we continue to still discover today. There are great unknowns in the depths of the oceans, and these jewels of nature must be protected.

And finally, the oceans are a massive global food source. We cannot afford contamination of the oceans and the breakdown of this ecosystem, not only from the wildlife perspective, but also from a world hunger standpoint.

Think of how many small villages located on the ocean, throughout the world, call fishing their main economic activity. Not only to generate income, but especially for subsistence. Fishing on the coasts is as essential as farming inland for feeding the families of the world. And we find that these fishing based economies are most prevalent in lower income areas around the world.

All signs point to how essential it is for us to save our oceans. Not only for the wildlife, but also for our survival on this world that we call home.
