Sustainable Development #3 Carrying Capcity
Good day fellow steemians, i will like to continue on the series sustainable development with the topic Carrying Capacity. Carrying Capacity is the number of person(s) an environment can support without having adverse effect on the environment or the population in the environment.
credit
An unsustainable environment will exist when a natural habitat i.e sum total of nature resources, is used up faster than it can be replaced. Sustainability require human activity to use resources at a rate which they can be replaced naturally, the concept of sustainability is closely connected to carrying capacity.
- if the consumption of renewable resources exceeds natures ability to replenish, it will lead to environmental degradation which is not sustainable.
- if the consumption of resources is equal to natures ability to replenish the resulting effect will be environmental equilibrium
- if the consumption of resources is less than natures ability to replenish, a sustainable environment will be attained.
Conclusion
Continuous environmental degradation will lead to natures inability to sustain human life, hence if not checked will lead to extinction.
