A VERY STEEM HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATION--GIVING STEEM POWER TO THE FUTURE

in #earthnation6 years ago (edited)

Dear Witnesses and Steem World,
--This is an open letter to the platform in the form in a request of aspiration for the future youth (literal milennials born 1999-2001) in this year's high school graduating class (age). In the upcoming months we will be seeing a spike in continuing membership as the limits I feel are being pushed on that daily creating one heck of an impressive backlog. That goes to show the level of excellence the platform brings, its' daily improvements, as well as the level of people that are on here and spreading Steem/Steemit concepts by word of mouth. The future is a very bright one for those reasons and several others too numerous to count right now.
--I want to propose to anyone that can design it (as I am virtually worthless when it comes to digital programming) a digital card that gives an instant account to the holder when it is redeemed. I feel offering three levels of a $5 (US dollar value) and a $20(US Dollar value) and perhaps a $100 (US Dollar value) getting these newbies to the front of the line. Also, very importantly offering a price relative to the cost of a new setup cost @blocktrades, or could actually be done by @blocktrades, with the remainder to purchase steem or steempower on the open market @blocktrades as well, on top of which having the proper delegation amount that would be decided reasonable, similar to the purchased account once again in the Steem internal market place.
--The dynamic to this is such that people can bestow upon their youthful up-and-coming talented youth an excellent graduation gift, birthday gift, Christmas/Hannukah gift, whatever the occasion warrants the excuse we all make to gift the people we care about.
--If the angle was taken that this so much more than just a check or money that can easily be squandered by the recipient, but the giver of the gift is targeted as an investor in the future well-being for many different ways that provide a chance for countless rewards for a youth to spend their time on a decentralized block chain apparatus.
--The complaint I hear so often from from fellow adult United States of America friends is "Kids today don't have discipline, kids don't develop talents, go outside, enjoy nature, make real friends, waste their time chasing crap on the internet, no work ethic, no sticktoitveness, no grip on reality," among countless other negative remarks. So why not nurture what the future will be for that person taking a step in the world? Why not develop more of a reality of an international plight they hear about in the news but could get a twenty-four hour, on the ground perspective from someone say, living there? Sounds goofy, as this was all the intention for social media platforms in their very origins but has actually lead to, in my opinion a deep segregation of those you only agree with and are similar with absolutely no real diversity in thought or perspective of daily events. It's no mystery that online searches appear different for everyone as they cater to your interests and previous searches, targeted ads, and countless other eye balls on you wherever you go.
--I feel the selling point is great for the youth being the beneficiary of a gifted Steemit account, but is much more appealing to the giver as a way to provide somewhat of an online informal general education or put simply "in the ways of things." Time is definitely on the side of the young, most often and milennials are being targeted by all things marketing across the globe because their perceptions are not fully formed, adaptable to the given times versus those of us that are very comfortably set in our ways. So would Steemit not adapt a new account gifting program that caters to the wishes of those who quite often hold the means to invest in the future, by investing in those milennials that are beginning their trek into the "real world" arming them with a compelling chance to compound their growth over a long period of time in a market base that most truly caters to the will of the people, that being blockchain technology and the Steemit platform?

This is a very cool idea, @cryptkeeper17! I have been telling many people about steemit, yet they just don't seem all that enthralled for some reason... maybe it's just me (probably lol).

No, it's definitely not just you. Talking about this is definitely a mouthful. People seem to always really throw their guard when people are excited about a new "too good to be true" concept. In that Wright brothers book I read and posted about something absolutely shocked me was that no one really believed them that they had made a flying machine at first. They made multiple offers to the US government to purchase the rights to their machine AND THEY WOULDN'T EVEN SEND SOMEONE TO SEE THEM USE IT IN ACTION. After a while these guys being patriots first, but businessmen second went to the British government then the French government who finally bit. Within sixty years of the first manned flight in Kitty Hawk, NC the US landed on the moon. So yeah I totally see where you are coming from there is a fine art to talk about this, especially among those most skeptical. Maybe they'd rather just hear you jam, did you ever consider that? Glad to hear from you keep up the great work @gjones15.

Hahah maybe... I don't know. I'm in a bit of a defeatist mood right now lol. But that bit on the Wright Bros.. thank you very much for that. How amazing to consider... man. lol people can be so dduuuumb!!!! (just had a case of deja vu. Weird.) Anyway thanks for the vote of encouragement.

Cyptocurrency is complicated. The average person sees it as money out of thin air with no value. Clearly a scam :(

That's a valid point. The nice thing about steem is that can't buy alcohol with it, tobacco, or just about any other crap that a youth can squander graduation money on. Trading $20 in steem sure doesn't make a lot of sense to trade for bitcoin either. So as of right now, that money spent really has one destination, at least until more people/businesses start accepting steem as an accepted payment. You are right, many people do see crypto as a scam, but I have been scammed out of more than $20 in the past and have had far less fun than working in this platform. Thanks @edicted, I saw your posts on q-filter, they are quite good, I will be weighing in on and voting as well. Keep up the conversation, it's great! And keep up the great work!

Ha, ha, I am pretty big "homer" when it comes to steem though, so yeah I am definitely biased.
