MY ANSWER TO NEWBIEGAMES JEOPARDY- WHERE EVERY VALID ANSWER IS A WINNER
E. REDUCING HOMELESSNESS
This is a another very interesting topic because it is one of the major problems in my part of the world- Africa. And you will agree with me that if someone is homeless,he is definitely hungry.
But one must understand that anybody can be homeless at some point. For example,there was a point in my family's life when we couldnt pay our house rent and we were asked to leave,Thank God for my aunt who had a vacant flat in her house. We went to stay there for a year before we could afford another place. Many people are not always as lucky as us.There are many causes of homelessness which I will talk about below:
Joblessness: This is a major cause. The percentage of jobless people is more than those with jobs. Some people lose their jobs and find it hard to get another. This means being late in paying bills and house rent. And at the end ,they might get thrown out on the streets. They might be lucky to have a relative or friend to accomodate them for a while.
Broken homes and death of a partner: Some broken homes,with the mother mostly in custody of the children ,find it difficult to have a roof over their heads. Also death of a parent usually puts more load of responsibility on the other which the person might not be able to handle,hence some basic needs might not be met.
Catastrophy: catastrophic events that render people homeless include: natural disasters eg earthquake,tornadoes,tsunamis;fire incidents,wars. These render many families homeless and hungry.
MEASURES TAKEN
There are some measures taken by some,not all countries to try to eradicate homelessness. But these measures are not adequate as people still live on the streets. Shelters are made for homeless people and they are not adequate.
FUNNY FACT
some people prefer staying on streets than in shelters because they might have their little property stolen while asleep.
Shelter is one of the basic needs of life,and homeless people should be cared for.
