TribeVibes Community Contest: Earth Deeds

in #earthdeeds6 years ago

What have I done to reduce my carbon foot print....?

20180723_205541.jpg

Ok so here's one of the things we do... we poop in a bucket and compost this black gold instead of sending it to energy hungry facilities than clean the waste by consuming perfectly clean water, lot and lots of energy and harmful chemicals. In heavy rains, even a home septic tank can overflow and pollute the ground water or out into the seas.

Here we turn the stuff into beautiful earth!!!

Here's the link to an old post on our compost toilet: Finally, a Compost Toilet in the Trailer...♻ Now we can talk Relycling for REAL!!!!

I want to teach people that it's not waste and that as a matter of fact in a permaculture kind of way... nothong should be thought of as waste really. Everything has a purpose.... except for sewage treament plants 😁!

Thanks for the contest... @Elamental, my reason for coming in so late, not paying attention like you said in the video!

Find the Contest HERE and keep an ear open for the next one if you can't make this one!!!

QUOTE OF THE MONTH: @Flemingfarm
If you don't like your surroundings, change them
If you don't like your situation, change it.
If you don't like your decisions, make different ones.
All of this leads to the life that YOU want to lead, not the one others want you to lead.

Life is like chess, always try and think at least 5 moves ahead, and if you can see the dead ends you can avoid them.

Black gold!!! Great. I think @mountainjewel does this? I have a bucket in garden I pee in so I can pour it under the citrus trees coz I don't have a personal hose like hubby ;)

Haha a personal hose!!! That's excellent. Thanks for the laugh 😂

Sorry, have been feeling quite cheeky all week!!!

No please, more like this is good... love that word by the way: cheeky

Yeah human manure, great entry Senor and yes there really should be no such thing as waste. I do love your loveable compost loo xxx

Thank you dear 😁. We love it, though soon I may turn to making compost toilet with wheelie bims instead of buckets...it's hard work!

Everything has a purpose.... except for sewage treament plants 😁!

Great quote. I like the proof of bucket pic too. Although I'm glad you are proofing the bucket, not me

It really wasn't stinky at all... just the sweet smell of saw dust!

I guess they have a purpose and really a good one at that, because all this shit has to be cleaned up somehow. There are better ways though!

How do you compost the toilet content? Worms ? BSFL? LaB? Something else?

We go by the thermophilic composting technics suggested in the humanure handbook.

Here all the info you'll need if you're interested in the hole process: https://humanurehandbook.com

Great entry, and wow you really show your commitment to the Earth here buddy. I would imagine many people, even eco-friendly ones, would say that this is going to far, or too gross for them. Thank you for doing what is needed and giving back to the Earth what was given. It is all a part of the pattern of re-birth, which does not always smell like roses.

I have to ask, are you taking a nice whiff of that bucket in that proof photo? It just kind of looks like you are and it gave me a chuckle, and thinking about asking someone to take that photo kind of made me laugh. Also, what fish? Who gave you fish? I love you too lol.

Lol, it's a reference to So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish, the fourth book of the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy "trilogy" written by Douglas Adams... real funny books, the only books that have made me actually laugh out lound!

Thanks for the comment, I was taking a whiff to freak out some conservative friends of mine who think I'm completely insane for living like I do 😁, it worked too! Suprisingly enough it only smells like saw dust. No roses, but not bad either.

We decided to close that circle of life, for sure giving back to the earth.

Cheers

Not your average sh*t post here! Haha. Love it.

Heehee thanks... we had one in the tool shed last winter so it became the stool shed.

This is really fantastic! We've talked about going even more off grid and deeper into the woods and it we ever do I'll be taking notes from you on how to do it right when it comes to the toilet!

That's excellent news. And when you're ready I have tons of info for you and a few different designs that all work great and are easy on the wallet too.

Thanks

Damn, this is really cool. Humanure! Great #EarthDeed!

Thank you. It's nice but I will be lookong for a different system at some point for large events... the 5 gallon buckets get full pretty quickly
