DUBAI: THE CITY OF WORLD RECORDS | BURJ KHALIFA
DUBAI, the most populous city of the United Arab Emirates boasts of a myriad of World Records. Undoubtably the most outstanding of these records has to be the mega-tall structure known as Burj Khalifa (Arabic for Khalifa Tower)
A SMALL TOWN IN THE SKY
The Burj Khalifa stands 828 metres and 160 storeys tall. It has the capacity to accomodate up to 35,000 people, which is quite easily the population of a small town.
Inside the Burj Khalifa are hotels, residences (900 homes), corporate suites, shops, observation decks, cigar clubs, amenities such as library, spas, gyms, and swimming pools.
RECORDS
The Burj Khalifa holds the following world-firsts:
-Tallest building in the world
-Tallest free-standing structure in the world
-Highest number of storeys in the world
-Highest occupied floor in the world
-Highest outdoor observation deck in the world
-Elevator with the longest travel distance in the world
-Tallest service elevator in the world
