Visiting Laos | Vlog #38
Hey guys,
Wow it feels like the longest time since I’ve been able to get a vlog up and to say the least this one didn’t come easy.
I didn’t anticipate how difficult it was going to be to get online consistently since I started my travels and balancing filming with family life.
My mum, two aunts, two uncles and I went to visit Laos for a few days and because our time was short we had to cram a lot of activities into an untimely schedule.
There was over 20 hours worth of travel time in our mini van with an overly enthusiastic travel guide and as an introvert I find it difficult to balance so many energies without allowing myself alone time to reset.
This really reflected when it came to creating. Constantly feeling rushed and being asked multiple times to stand for pictures took away my opportunity to actually capture my experience.
My family is crazy but I wouldn’t have it any other way and I’m thankful for this time together. I am just yet to find my routine amongst the madness to maintain balance.
In saying, I hope you enjoy the clips I was able to capture for this little vlog. 4 days is by far not enough time to experience a beautiful country like Laos.
Biggest love to you | neeQi 💙

Awww your poor mom looked majorly uncomfortable in that boat on day 1! Can't wait for you to experience Songkran!! One of the best festivals I have ever experienced hands down :) I'm glad you were able to get a chance to upload your video and share a bit of your experience thus far with us.
You asked for feedback and honestly the quality on my end is fine! Video loaded super quick and had no playback issues. Sound was also sharp with music and you speaking. Nothing to worry about chicka :) Looking forward to your next one! 💜
Haha she was alright. It had just been an incredibly long day up until that point. Looking forward to Songkran. I have more cousins coming to Udon so it’s going to get crazy.
And yes, the uploading situation hasn’t been in my favour. Also I’m doing everything straight from my phone which requires a lot of patience! Travel vlogging ain’t all that glamorous haha.
Glad the video turned out well though. 😊
Wow. This was an amazing vlog.
What lens/camera are you using when you were at the Lao royalty place? The background is so bokehlicious.
Thanks! @dnews I use a Sony A5000 😊
Hey Sarah, great to see your post. The selfie with your aunt brought a big smile to my face! It's so cool seeing friends travelling and shooting video. I hear you on the 'alone time' thing though. That's gotta be tough. I remember travelling with two friends for three months around north America. The only alone time we got was on flights pretty much. It became quite valuable.
Thanks Cams 😁 Glad you enjoyed the video. The selfie with my aunt was literally one in a million! But that was the only one I caught on film. It’s challenging finding time for myself. Amongst being with so much family, there’s a lot of emotional energy as we are preparing for my grandmas funeral as well. I’m not quite sure just yet how to manage it all besides riding it out for a few weeks until I separate from family and have a few days to myself. And just take every chance I can get to spend time with myself.
Sarah, that was freaking amazing!! It is definitely worth capturing it with your phone! It might have been a bit exhausting, but it's sooooo nice to see all of the places you have been to and also the time you spent with your family. Amazing! I can also see that you are really happy and I'm happy for you :)
Winny out...for now ;)
Haha doing everything on my phone is definitely teaching me patience but I want to create and share so I’m pushing through it. And thanks, amongst all the craziness I’m generally pretty happy. 😊

Want to have your post on the map too?
Hi @neeqi
Looks like you're having a great time already. These were some epic scenery showed. I love the hills/mountains covered with trees. I love photographing stuff like that. I can also feel the very tropical climate over there. Are there mosquitos over there? :)
Hey Ade! It’s been pretty nice so far. I wish I had more time in each place to really play around with taking pictures. Some of the places were absolutely beautiful! I’m actually surprised it’s not a hot as home. There are times during the day where it gets a little warm but so far nothing to unbearable. There have even been cold nights! As for mozzies, heaps but they don’t bother me like they do other people for some reason.
Ahh, beautiful locations! ❤️🌿
I can totally relate to your experience with family travelling. There are different things people we want to get out of travelling, and sometimes it's conflicting. My parents are the touristey-type, and when we've travelled, we always tried to see as much locations as we could. that's understandable, (and I've enjoyed the travels very much nevertheless), because we want to get as much as we can out of the trip to foreign land, but I think, for me it's not that important how much of the sites we see, but how much can I sense the feeling of a place.
At least, I'm happy my family has always travelled by car (around Europe), it's a better way to catch the feeling of the place, as you move through the land and see all kinds of sceneries, compared to waiting for your plane in airports. But because we were always rushing through from one city to another, it was as if I couldn't get enough of the places visited, like, when we stopped in St. Tropez in Southern France and I wanted to stay there for a moment longer, but we had to head further.
Ohh, how I want to travel, thanks for a virtual experience, haha.
What kind of traveller are you? What is it that you look for?
I guess I’m the kind of traveller who values quality over quantity. Like I’d rather spend longer time in a place, to really understand my surroundings, the people, and the cultural instead of just trying to fit in as many places as I can into a short time frame. It kind of feels to me like saying that you visited a country because you had a layover flight there. It’s not quite the full experience! Also I’m pretty deterred from touristy spots, I can’t handle a lot of people swarming a place just to get the prefect shot and leave.
I like to travel because I want to experience the places I visit in their entirety as a guest not just a spectator.
Also I definitely agree travelling by car is the best way to experience places. You can slowly take in your surroundings and it’s nice.
I hope soon enough Kate you get to travel!!
