Guayaquil Ecuador Safety Overview

From the Perla Ferris Wheel looking over the city I give you an appropriately timed "Safetly Overview" of the biggest city (or some call it Ecuador's second capital) Guayaquil. There has been a lot in the news lately about social unrest here in Ecuador. The IMF has recently forced Ecuador's hand to do away with oil/gas subsidies suddenly and drastically raising the price of almost everything. This is really hitting the entire population directly in their wallet, which is really felt by the lower class; which makes up the majority of the population.

I did this video several months ago before the crisis broke out, giving you a general safety overview. Guayaquil was known not to be a very safe city, but now it's down right dangerous on all sorts of levels. Riots, looting, threat of a coup and overthrow of the government....things have gotten crazy. I'm a very fearless traveler, but I would have to give the city of Guayaquil a Travel Pro "no go" warning until things get resolved.
