Steem Debate - Mahbod, Founder of Everipedia & They Call Me Dan, Steem Investor

in dtube •  3 months ago

Mahbod & I have a light-hearted debate about the viability of Steem. Will Steem become the next Friendster? Find out our thoughts in this video!
We also talk about decentralization, EOS, Everipedia and a variety of other things. Cheers!

Yeah, IQ is a good name for a token, we will have Smart Media Tokens (soon-ish(tm)), so feel free to move :-)

Yes, Steem has psycho users. Just take a look at the green one

;-)

·

Hahah someone needs to make this into a Steem meme!

·

Good one

·

Steem having pyscho users is just a reflection of reality, eareth has pyscho peopel nd steem just has a lot of users period.

Crazy comments are everywhere but usualy get removed, peopel on steem just have a loty of steempower sometimes and you cant remove even teh worst comments (unless ned gets involved and then the comment or post is removed from the front end steemit.com reuining teh whole point ... fuckjin darkoverord shit was so dmb )

Really? I don't think Steem needs Zuck of Steem. What we need is more cool apps that people will want to use regardless of leaders and regardless all those who shit on Steem. If we have something cool and unique that runs on Steem and it goes viral enough people will not care much is it centralized or decentralized, but that is a start and that is how they would learn about decentralization and what it means, how the ball starts rolling.

Also agree with your point about islands. Would be cool decentralized "united" in a sense to fight the dinosaurs.

Upvoted before watching, I can tell this is gonna be good.

You’re gonna need a refill on that !popcorn, it’s pretty hilarious!

·
·

·

Hehe...same here

·

So much Drama, and we get the Guido accent too!

·

Would definitely haven been easier to get that Steem article up Everipedia compared to Wikipedia... Nice video, even though that other guy could have spent a little more time on research before.

Someone please create a steem based wikipedia dapp to indeed keep this guy on his toes, like he suggested... outrageous how uninformed he is

Steem.pedia lets go!

I will contribute some SP for that project for sure.

Steem is simple and smart and perfect for a wikimedia replacement.

SPACE, the FINAL frontier.

Selling my IQ... sorry

·

Steem may be a better platform for Everipedia actually!
But the FOUNDER would have to be smart enough to know something about coding and data architecture to even discuss it rationally... and a Steem account.

That was quite powerful @Theycallmedan. I trust you initiated the debate and it was all good. I see you believe so much in steem. That confidence around you was just so real!

·

Thanks! This whole thing started when Mahbod had an interview with MaxDapp and said something about Steem I disagreed with. I made a response video and tagged him on Twitter. He reached out and publicly challenged me to a debate. And thus this video was born.

I still want to debate Tone Vays asap.

·
·

Would love to see that debate

Hey man, great composure during this
It was the first time I seen you so great first impression. I’m not done yet but you talking about 2 top 10 witnesses using funds they earned to create a game to help make steem more valuable was such a moment for me!

Can you do a 20 minute video going into depth about why you believe steem will be worth between x and y for a, b, c reasons? The point you made really struck a cord for me, might be hard to believe but I still have sooooo much to learn I don’t know much about the top 20 witnesses that can be a great video too just talking about who are he 20-21 CEOS of steem

·

Will do, jotted it down in my notes now.

I got such an egotistical and arrogant vibe from that guy... And if he was inspired by Steem why wouldn’t he do any research in the present or in the future? I mean he honestly thought DTube was the latest app 🤣🤣🤣

·

Steem is real and Steem is the future of social blogging.

·

I got the same vibe from him, too. The man doesn't know shit. Steemit, DTube - that's all he knows. Really no research. And @theycallmedan is right in that because Steem gets a shitload of disrespect despite all the work done and all the users and the strong community, it means that it is undervalued and most likely a great investment especially as the cost of running a full node is brought down to a level where Steem becomes financially indestructible.

·
·

Little does he know he’s getting put on blast on DTube for looking like a total fool 🤣 Here where there’s no traction

·

EGGZACTLY !!

seems like everipedia is banking heavy on charm of Sam .... not quite decentralized IMHO !!

·
·

“I think he’s the smartest guy on Earth. Just like Mark Zuckerberg.” 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

That guy is clearly extremely butthurt that Mark Zuckerberg didn’t take the free shirt he offered him LOL

·
·
·
  ·  3 months ago (edited)

He is certainly fixated on the Zuckbot...

·
·
·
·

This is the creepiest thing I have seen in a long time.

·

Funny.
Steem have 8 apps among the first 15 and EOSs best one is 16th.

·
·

LOL... And it’s not Everipedia, it’s some shitty ass game. It’s just hilarious honestly. I looked into everipedia and it had 30 users in the past 24 hours... That sounds like it was just the everipedia team and all their devices lmao 🤣

·
·
·

But you must admit: the name of the token is perfect and they have the smartest leader in the world. Do you want a T-Shirt?

·
·
·
·

“It will make people think they’re smarter by holding it” LOL...

Clearly it’s working a little too much for that guy. #NotSmart 🤣 I mean he even said he wasn’t smart in the video. I would not even trust a site with a high level employee that’s this ignorant. The irony is just too hilarious honestly. This guy killed their brand in a half hour.

·

Just three minutes in and I must say that I'm baffled how the guy doesn't know about the existence of any other dapps when there are 6 of them, other than Steemit or DTube, in the Top 10 on State of the DApps. People really don't know shit, but talk as if they do.

·
·

Yeah for real LOL... He was inspired by Steem but too dumb to do literally any research. And why didn’t he sign up for a Steem Account at least to experience what he was being inspired by?? Total moron.... I can’t believe their team let him be the one in the video honestly.

Formula for losing : competing

Formula for Winning : collaborating

·

Competing: A STEEM based Wikipedia like Everipedia on EOS. #IMHO

Yeah, zero research. Also, he's stuck in the zero-sum competitive mindset.

·

Total idiot. I bet the whole everipedia team is shaking their heads right now LMAO 🤣

·
·

Maybe he hopes his IQ token will get him smart.

·
·
·

Oh I certainly hope that's not the case... Or else he's surely fucked.

I love how the two of you were able to hold respect despite the difference of opinion. So many die hards as he mentioned (perhaps I am one, lol), but I really loved the idea you brought up of partnerships where multiple tokens can be utilized for the same work/project.

I believe now that I understand a little more about crypto (I was ignorant before joining really) that it must have come as a surprise to Dan and Ned that developers didn't rush to create a bunch of projects, instead taking advantage of the reward system already here. I have seen more movement since the layoff than the time I was here before that. It is an exciting time to be part of this project. And thankful for all those who are beginning to implement visions with the chain. I have watched many videos when I first came by day traders, position traders who would talk of their "projects" making me laugh. The real project is in the community, the true believers who hold on as many of us did through these lean times (which we are still in) and continue to grow what we hold. It is our community that gives us that extra edge, as though wallet security, a named wallet, 3 second transactions and no fees wasn't enough.

Awesome video, and thanks for stepping forward as you have these last many months. Communities grow with leaders, those who walk their talk and step forward as an act of conviction.

Dan, I don't know if the guy you interviewed is your friend, but I have to say he didn't make a good point in the hole interview. Not a single one.

·

I think Dan made a reference to this guy's video on YouTube earlier. Dan must have contacted this Everipedia guy to suggest making a video together to change his perception of Steem. Great move by Dan.

When are we going to chat and break all the shit down?

·

I am game! Whenever, shoot me a DM and let's book it

At first I want to say awesome steem debate it was!I think steem invest very risk because it is market price do updown day by day.I thnik Invest is very helpful but not a all time

·

Only invest what you can afford to lose and with steem you can get even more without investing

Posted using Partiko Android

This is so great for awareness. I'm sure this will be seen by many key players in the Crypto community. I also love that you're an EOS holder so you're clearly unbiased!

Too bad he didn't do his research, the debate would be much better. Steem wins! :D

·

Agreed. Ah well, one down, thousands more to go :)

I appreciate how you humbly show strength via patience and listening as he elaborates/struts a bit/sidebars. Seeking synergies, collaboration and way to leverage opportunities together is the winning approach. Stronger together.

@theycallmedan, One thing is for sure and that is, Steem Ecosystem will going to inspire many Individuals and Groups and many more projects will be born in near future and that Inspiration aspect is great plus point because as a Crypto Community and Blockchain Space we have to inspire and try to back new and potential projects because at the end of the day it will be beneficial for the Crypto Market as a whole. Stay blessed brother.

Thank You.
After I watch 5 minutes.
This is a good way to promote steem.
Thank you very much.

Oh boy. Cant wait to watch. Picked up his FUD comments about Steem a few days ago and i was an instant hater of his. Lol.
Lets see if it changes.

EDIT: @theycallmedan any chance i could find this on youtube?? Have you uploaded it there? I cant open your video: "The media could not be loaded, either because the server or network failed or because the format is not supported."

Not sure whats going on but it would be great if you could link the video if you uploaded it somewhere else as well. thx

·

LOL this guy did zero research before the call...

Nice debate buddy can't able to watch it full right now but will surely watching it in morning.

The Debate was really cool, 28 minutes video, I'm still streaming to the very last minute. I'm happy seeing the founder of everipedia. I'm excited too that he claimed he was motivated on the project he had at all now through steemit. His opinion on some of the dapp too was cool.

You are right @theycallmedan for saying steemit
Had a very strong and supportive community. I'm happy you guys talked about investing on steem.

This guy is talking about charismatic leaders and all that shit. Destroying this and destroying that. He doesn't have a very good idea of what decentralization is.

"Steemit, Steemit, Steemit ... superlatives, genius, brilliant leader .... Facebook of crypto ... Everipedia is led by a genius ..."

This guy does not have a concept what decentralization means.

He's talking about the seven day payout window. But that's trivial to circumvent without touching the blockchain code at all. Just keep adding comments. All that can be hidden from app users.

18 min: Now the Everipedia guy is talking about beating centralized internet after Dan talked sense.

Nice debate 👍

wow

Great minds are to make others great. Their superiority is to be used, not to break the multitude to intellectual vassalage, not to establish over them a spiritual tyranny, but to rouse them from lethargy, and to aid them to judge for themselves.

William Ellery Channing

I mean, he was even unsure of what chain his own project ran on, how can you hold a meaningful debate with someone like that.

·

Agreed. He challenged me but didn't know enough about Steem to have a real debate. He did end up buying a chunk of steem post debate. :)

·
·

This, more than anything else, makes this a win.

·
·

That's a nice way to end things. :) He may not know anything, but at least he's not above giving Steem a chance.

Thank you Sir @theycallmedan for persuading him to go into steem platform and buy some steempower, that I think is the highlight of the debate making you win him over steem. Well hopefully he joins and collaborate in this community.

Although he invented IQ token somehow I can't see the connection. Maybe he believes he can mine or buy IQ to improve his own.
Not to mention he talking about high tech and free T-Shirts.

Will watch in the morning when I can actually listen without waking up everyone. Going to be good. Not reading comments as not to spoil.

I never heard of earndotcom but it is true that Steem is the only coin that has a use otherwise other coins are just for trading.

You're late? You kidding! You're way ahead than the people who landed here almost three years ago!

I was going to hate for having so much Steem in your wallet, how could I beat you! Now am so desperate to earn some cash to buy more Steem that am going to have a garage sale of my wardrobe! Lol

Seriously, thank you for investing your money and time here, such an honor!

More power! 💃💃👏👊

It is important that this type of debate is carried out, whether or not we agree with what one person or another says or explains. I found it interesting. good that friend

Was a great debate

Posted using Partiko Android

Agree that decentralization is what needs to win even if it implies consolidation of projects. It is what happened after the dotcom bubble popped so it could happen again!

Posted using Partiko iOS

fascinating talk.

the guy quotes biggie at the end. he gets some points for that lol

but i’m scratching my head. this guy is obviously a lot better at life than i am...but still said dtube is there latest app here?

you are right man. lots of disrespect towards steem. but i am kinda grateful. Keeps the prices low so i can still stack them lol

great stuff man. really appreciate you waving the steem flag everywhere!

Posted using Partiko iOS

I have heard this guy in other interviews, and really don't know why people interview him. He is not very intelligent at all. If you are even trying to compare yourself to a Facebook and your CEO is like Suckerburg, then why would I want to even look at your platform? lol. Way to go Dan for backing up the Steem community! We are freaking awesome!

it is very interesting!

On Steem we like other platforms coming and talking about what they got. I tried out one app called Uptrennd the project isn’t even on the blockchain yet. I posted to the Steem community on Uptrennd and got a bunch of comments from Steem haters 🤣🤣🤣 telling me to post about Uptrennd on Steem instead. They are trying to be a communities project but when I posted to my community on their platform the haters all came out. It’s funny how some people really dislike Steem so much.
BTW who is that guy supposed to be for Everpedia if he is who represents them they are in trouble. I think I got some IQ airdropped from a year ago. #Steem On Steemians ♨️

Posted using Partiko iOS

Wow. Now that was a fascinating watch.
Brilliant that you both hold such respect for each others positions and the vibe kept upbeat throughout.
Interestingly I picked up on yours and his body language too... You are as solid as rock my friend!

It’s unfortunate Mahbods’ gambit tended to be about cosmetic things like naming it IQ, the charismatic CEO etc - I would have loved to have heard more of the meat of the argument for his work other than ‘I’m not technical’. But fair enough.

Great video man.

Posted using Partiko iOS

12:32....when he started "comparing" the leadership...I mean really?
This is the exact opposite of decentralization...

Is it just me or he was uninformed? Like a lot...?

·

Sadly many are still in the whole centralized ceo focal point. Everyone owns Steem, big and small names, and we all chip in so way to make this place better.

Hi Dan,end goal achieved and hopefully he invests and buys some Steem. I think once he looks into it he will be eating his words and realise that it may be better for them to be working with the Steem community. Why fight and try make something else when one is working so well, just add to it and he could still have his precious IQ token.

·

He did! He bought some Steem post debate.

·
·

Lucky for him then that he listened to what you had to say. I know you have coins in various projects and I think you did him a favor. I am confident that Steem will do well at some point and it is just a matter of time.
