The Many Ways to Steem #1 - What is Dtube?
Earning STEEM nowadays is way more than just blogging! There are platforms for almost every type of content imaginable, and the list is growing almost daily!
This post series will provide quick explanations of the various "front-end" websites connected to the Steem Blockchain, in an attempt to facilitate the onboarding of people who may not be as interested in the blogging aspect of Steemit for @thesteemhouse.
D.tube is a decentralized video sharing platform that pays users for posting and engaging with content!
We all know and love (mostly) our favorite google website, YouTube, but anyone who has ever attempted to use YouTube to monetize their video content knows what sort of hassle dealing with a giant centralized corporation can be. Especially when you're only starting out.
Dtube aims to solve that problem by offering everyone a place to post their content, and be rewarded for it, no matter how big or small that creator's audience may be.
Decentralization means anyone can earn!
Corporations like YouTube and Vimeo hate paying money to others, and will do as little of it as the can. They've built their businesses around advertising revenues, and want to pocket as much of that money as they can. These corporations place stringent standards on their content creators, or take away the option to earn anything at all. This makes it harder and harder for small creators to get started, and alienates different niches.
D.tube is different!
Dtube was started by @heimindanger, not some big corporation looking to funnel the money through themselves, and allows anyone with a Steemit account to upload and earn money for their videos. It uses the Steem API for monetization, so you will earn money when people upvote your content, just like on Steemit, or could earn STEEM just for commenting and even upvoting your favorite content!

Leave the old-school corporations to their greed, and start earning on a platform by the people, for the people!

It looks like a no-brainer once more people discover it. YouTube must be quaking....!
They should be! When people realize they don't have to give a bunch of the money generated from their content to someone else, big corps may start to feel it hard.
