It's not a problem of doing things different, it's a problem of undoing consequences. Consequences are necessary and once they happen it's a mistake to undo them. It only results in contrived endings and cheapens the drama and conflict.
I normally stop giving a fuck when there are so many twists anything could happen. This also happened to me when I was watching the second season of Code Geass, only the ending saved that pile of shit, and now that too is going to be ruined too.
