28 April 2008: Today we go to Sensō-ji (金龍山浅草寺), an ancient Buddhist temple located in Asakusa, Tokyo, Japan. When we arrive at the entrance, we can see an huge and impressive front door, the Kaminarimon (雷門).

Once we pass the entrance we arrive in The Nakamise-dōri (仲見世通り), the main center of an entire shopping district where crowded streets intersect. Long shopping street, which leads to the Senso-ji. This street is covered and only composed of stalls (in houses of two or three floors maximum) where you can find kimonos, parasols, fans, sweets, gadgets and other religious artifacts and souvenirs.

The Sensô-ji temple (金龍山浅草寺, Kinryū-zan Sensô-ji) is a former Buddhist temple located in the Asakusa and Taitō districts of Tokyo. It is the oldest temple in Tokyo and one of the most significant. Formerly associated with the Tendai sect, it became independent after the Second World War. Adjacent to the temple of Jinja, the Asakusa Jinja.

The shintoist Sanctuary Asakusa-jinja (浅草神社), this small temple (built in 1649) is dedicated to the fishermen who found the famous statue of Kannon

At the end of the Nakamise dori, we arrive in front of the Hozo-mon (a door a little like the Kaminarimon but larger) with on the left the Buddha Botokesan Nadi that we come to touch (to heal if we are sick and to ask for a future without misfortune).
