Communities could be the driver that helps people use the steem blockchain (without really caring about it)

Learning about how a blockchain works, why you have four passwords, all the additional parts of markdown and numerous other things takes a lot of time, attention and education. Everyone learns differently and some people don’t want to learn any of that at all, they just wanna talk about their favourite hobby or share some photos or talk about their achievements.

You only have to see instagram, tiktok, pinterest to see what people like to do on the majority, there is a certain kind of catharsis to it that they enjoy, they want to have fun, they want to connect but that’s enough emotional intelligence that they want to give it — get in, get emotion, get out.

I certainly see communities on steem, especially as they only cost I believe 3 steem to setup being a major way that people will come and use the steem blockchain, if we can build tools and courses and education around the community feature and let them discover the rest automatically over time I think we have a better chance of retention.

I LOVE the idea of a handful of communities that I’m part of, on the same main consensus chain of steem (without running other stuff, I believe you have to do that with tribes) that I can post to and that only appears in those communities, making tutorials, grouping together certain types of posts while allowing my usual blog to become a day to day style of blog.

I believe the communities part is written in python as well the way it accesses the hivemind part so it should be screaming fast and allow for interesting ways of mashing up that data — I can certainly see more powerful frontends with your interests popping up, imagine if we had a condenser frontend that was built around you and your communities rather than the big feed that we have now — same platform, just a different sense.
