Topic of this Episode – Having Difficult Conversations (Part Two)

The idea for this topic was sparked by the fact that Mary needed to have a difficult conversation at work - which she updates us on in Part One in case you missed it.

You'll also notice we have a different background this week! Fitting in filming schedules was tight this week - and so we filmed at a brother's house while we were meeting up with relatives anyway. Don't mind the background laughs and comments from our Steem Brother!

Here are the questions we answered in this episode:

• @aussieninja - The guy sits from across from me at work is very religious and intolerant and says really awful things about women, gays, environmental etc. Should I tell my co-worker this is unacceptable in the moment, or just pull him aside at a different time?

• Is there a time and place for being harsher in your approach? Or should you try to be more empathetic?

• Can you think of a time when you chose NOT to have a difficult conversation, and you wished you had?

What is the Steem Sister Show All About?

We aim to bring more “non-crypto” related content to the Steem Blockchain. Although there is nothing wrong with this kind of content (@coruscate even posts on crypto related material sometimes) – we want to help create a better onboarding experience for new users. We talk a lot about attracting new users to the platform – but if the trending page is filled with crypto posts and flagging wars, they are likely to lose interest quickly.

We hope that by creating content that is more similar to what they are used to seeing on other social media sites – they will feel more excited about being here and creating content of their own!

How Does It Work?

We pick a different theme every week, and then throw totally random questions about that topic in a hat and go back and forth. We always have a mix of our own questions and some audience questions. Our rule is that we cannot tell each other our answers before filming! So you guys are getting our raw, unfiltered reactions here.

Every episode we announce the next week’s topic so people can submit questions.

The Next Topic: Acts of Kindness

After talking all about difficult conversations this week - we thought it would be fun to pick a lighter topic for next week! The idea for this topic was prompted because I had a co-worker write me a handwritten card from his kids because I helped them out with something and it totally made my day! It really caused me to reflect on the power of taking those little moments to do something thoughtful or kind for someone and how impactful that can be.
