The Steem Sister Show - Episode 69 // The Art of Making People Feel Good

in #dtube6 years ago (edited)

Welcome to the 69th episode of the Steem Sister Show!

Your hosts are @coruscate and @maryjaney. Two sisters bringing fun content to the Steem blockchain.

Topic of this Episode –The Art of Making People Feel Good

In retrospect... we probably should have discussed something sexual in nature to celebrate our 69th episode (like when I did a cover of "oops I did it again" for Open Mic week #69)... but alas we didn't have that foresight.

BUT, we do have an episode full of all sorts of deep conversation and reflection. We hope you enjoy it!

Here are the questions we answered this episode.

  • What character qualities or attributes do you think contribute to being good at this?

  • If you are consciously trying to improve this skill, what do you think about?

  • Give an example of a time when someone made you feel really seen?

  • Why do you think this topic matters?

  • How often do you give compliments? What usually sparks a compliment for you?

  • @aussieninja – Do you know people that give either way too much or way too little eye contact? Does it impact your opinion of them?

What is the Steem Sister Show All About?

We aim to bring more “non-crypto” related content to the Steem Blockchain. Although there is nothing wrong with this kind of content (@coruscate even posts on crypto related material sometimes) – we want to help create a better onboarding experience for new users. We talk a lot about attracting new users to the platform – but if the trending page is filled with crypto posts and flagging wars, they are likely to lose interest quickly.

We hope that by creating content that is more similar to what they are used to seeing on other social media sites – they will feel more excited about being here and creating content of their own!

How Does It Work?

We pick a different topic every episode, and then throw totally random questions about that topic in a hat and go back and forth. We always have a mix of our own questions and some audience questions. Our rule is that we cannot tell each other our answers before filming! So you guys are getting our raw, unfiltered reactions here.

Every episode we announce the next week’s topic so people can submit questions.

Want to win some Steem??

If we chose to answer your question in the next show… we will send you 2 Steem!

Next Week’s Topic: The Power of Saying No

In contrast to talking all about making people feel good - we thought it would be interesting to talk about moments when you don't make the other person feel good because you have to hold your own boundaries and say no. As two recovering people pleasers... this is definitely something we've had to work through in our lives.

So send us your questions! If we choose to answer your question during that episode - we'll send you 2 steem.

That’s a Wrap!

We really hope you guys enjoyed this episode talking all about making people feel good and how that can really impact your whole world.

With Love,

The Steem Sisters

I haven't watched this yet... but can I just say that your cover photos have just been so good lately! Like, they were already really good, but now they're really extra super good. Can't wait for the end of 2019 montage...

THIS EPISODE MADE ME FEEL SO JAZZED!

Thank you both, you're super sweet. I have to admit that something like the SCC would make me feel a little nervous going into it, but I'm honestly just excited to hang with the SCCSSS in the 2nd coolest city in America.

Lea, the secret to Mary's full profesh jazz hands is her head movements... that's where the gold is.

You guys were spot on with so many points. I honestly don't really take too much seriously, which totally includes my own ego, which in turn means you can just be playful most of the time... and 90% of the time people just love it. I think I learnt it from working in IT where everyone is a bit dry and awkward... gotta jazz that up.

The other point I loved about giving people the gift of your energy, and how you feel good from that interaction too, it's a total 2 for the price of 1 deal. Dudes do complain about not being able to give compliments to women, and I'd argue there's a huge difference between giving someone a compliment to get something from them (a date, phone number, a sale or work or something) versus just letting them know they've done an awesome job or that their jacket is rad. So I think energy and intention are the two keys there.

Ugh, that cover photo really is great... you can't not smile looking at it.

Um, anyway, here's my question for the opposite show:

Is saying 'No' kinder than saying 'Maybe'?

Simply put this one was touching girls 🥰 not even gonna try put that into words 😅 there’s your 69th punch line 💪🤣🤣🤣🤣

Ok so I struggle with saying no but rather tend just not to respond, what’s the best diversion tactic you use? Like the lead in transition phrase before any explanation. Can always just say “no” but I prefer to neutralize the situation if possible but it can be hard to word it in the least confrontational manner, do you each have a goto confrontation neutralizing transition phrase?

Much love girls

When you are in a complicated situation, you have your own problems to be solved but then someone come over and tell you that she has a big problem too but not as big as yours, she is asking for your help, what will you do in this kind of circumstances? Will you help her? Or you will say "NO"?

Thank you for the entertainment .

My question is

Have you ever said no to your loved ones ,When they demand something from you?
