Hey, I really like to see users bringing their own IPFS nodes online, a few tips and tricks, your files will be automatically pinned by the node when you add them in, this can be disabled however.

Additionally in the end you state "when my file is requested by other users, my node will upload it.." it could be clarified that the file is uploaded the ipfs node that dtube serves the video from not that the video will be served directly from your pi to a user, there's an intermediary which is why you can sometimes see a bit of a delay between when a video is first uploaded to when all of its versions are available for viewing, the intermediary server has to take a copy of the file before it can start streaming it

If you don't want to rely on youtube for video encoding you can check out https://github.com/dtube/ipfs-uploader which is a current version of the dtube encoder, it will work on cpu and gpu systems.

To see how it's deployd you can also check out https://github.com/dtube/deploy

But again, very impressed, wunderbar!

Great. Im ordered a Pi plus an additional chip to be able to connect a SATA harddrive (2TB) for this. I planned to do it on an old PC a friend had left over but that PC doesnt work and a pi is way more efficient anyways.

I had some Problems connecting a 3.5‘ internal hdd with a USB adapter cable with external power supply (12V) but the 5V from the raspberry pi where not enough to power the drive so it might be better to get an SATA to USB adapter with both 5V and 12V power supply.

I think in this case there is an additional power supply. I guess ill see when its here, have no experience with the rasperry yet. Actualy have an external USB drive on this PC, also 2TB, worst case can just replace that with the internal HD.

Oh and of course, the power source is also relevant. USB on a PC usualy can supply 500 milliampere. The Pi uses up to like 3.4 Watts, which at 5V would amount to 680 Milliampere.
People tend to recommend a power source of at least 2 Ampere (at 5V, obviously) though for the Pi itself on its own 1 should be more than enough.

I am using a powered USB hub to power both the Pi and the USB HD, so the Pi has TWO connections to the hub, one for power and the other for data channel.

Did you use your own d.tube/IPFS node when your last video didn't work to load? Did it go offline or something?

Hold on, do we need to supply the videos in FOUR different resolutions now or would it just limit the possible resolutions viewers can select if its just one or two of them?

Not filled resolutions would simply be unselectable, Sempervideo also used to provide only Source and 480p.

I tried the Upload yesterday, but wouldn't get it to work

Try without the Sprite Hash? Semperenglish didn't show it filled either.

from today on, A new Raspberry is out

with postage, tax and whatever .. 49,63 EUR for the pure board

Omg, Sempervideo in english :D I love to hear the speaker talking english: "Hashwert...value" XD

According to this video: Do i have to keep my IPFS node online, when i want the video should be available? And what exactly happens with the availability, if i upload my video directly to d.tube?

If your videos already have been distributed as they are being watched they would still be online after you take your node offline (though there are no guarantees since others can go offline as well). If you upload your video via d.tube it would get distributed by them initially but if nobody is watching it the video will be taken offline soon after (I think after like 2 weeks), if it is being regularly watched though part of the videos income will be used to keep the videos online (though the cuts are always the same, 50% for the author, 25% for the upvoters, 25% for the platform afaik).

Isn't the standard password for the Raspberry Pie: "raspberry" instead of "123456"?

Yes it is, but sempervideo changed it for comfort reasons. The video where they explained this is only available in German (as far as I know).

They allways use 123456 as password in their videos.

is a pi required, or can a node be hosted on windows?

Off cause you are able to install the IPFS Node on a Windows PC

just chose the operating System
