Who Actually Owns The News Networks You Watch?

in #dtube5 years ago

Have you ever been watching the news and wondered is this pushing an agenda? Probably right? And have you ever wondered then who and which companies own the majority?

I was wondering this myself and decided to look into it. Turns out, similarily to the consumer goods and expectedly, they were all owned by 6 companies and largely controlled by their owners and or CEOs.

I wasn't surprised, but I did feel that this was absolutely worth sharing. This page shows you all of this in a nice infographic but you can easily verify the information on Wikipedia and elsewhere too: https://www.webfx.com/data/the-6-companies-that-own-almost-all-media/

It's pretty common knowledge, the government is suppose to protect the citizens by not allowing monopolies that can control dominance in a market share. When that happens they take away competition and control pricing, with the news media it allows them to control what the populace hears, it slants an unfair advantage to one side. That's why it's crucial, but doesn't seem to be a priority of concern for the FTC, to get a grip on social media and the internet, once one side gains majority hold what's left of free speech one might as well kiss good bye.

Yeah fair enough. Very well said

I imagine they make a fortune by investing in securities and assets before pivot moments when they change the discussion & public perception in the United States.

Some of their investments might be off the records and not recorded anywhere by the U.S. Government @scottcbusiness while the U.S. Government does its best to manhandle the smaller players in American society via taxes & regulations.

Having said that.. I see nothing wrong & nothing right about any of this 👍
