Minnesota Rep FREAKS OUT After High School Kids Politely Request Meeting

In this Majority Report clip, we discuss a recent report focusing on Minnesota Rep. Mary Franson. Recently a group of high school young Democrats reached out to Franson to set up a meeting with her to discuss their political concerns. On Facebook and Twitter, the representative told the students that she would not meet with them unless they were accompanied by parents or other adults.

The students were confused by Franson's request. When they asked Franson to clarify why she would not meet with them independently Franson called the students an opposition group. Franson told the students on Twitter, "I don’t meet with partisan groups in my office — besides, isn’t your group actively campaigning against me?” The students said they were not and they were looking to meet with her as her constituents. Franson then defended her position of not meeting with young constituents by alluding Roy Moore and the accusations levied against him in his recent bid for Senate in Alabama.

“A man’s life was destroyed in AL,” Franson wrote in a Facebook post. “40 years ago he met with minors alone and they recently accused him of horrendous actions. In the world of we must believe every sexual harassment claim, I would think my approach is beyond reasonable. All it takes is one perceived action and my life is destroyed.”

Is this a legitimate reason to not meet with your constituents? Or is Franson just a myopic politician that has put her foot in her mouth?
