The painstaking process of removing land mines and booby-traps has started in the Syrian city of Khan Sheikhun that was liberated from Islamic State nearly a month ago. The move is a part of a large-scale restoration campaign so people can safely return there.
Khan Sheikhun was an ISIS stronghold of more than two and a half thousand terrorists, before it was liberated in August by Syrian government forces. Authorities there also found a huge cave network near the city that operated as a base for terrorists - packed with weapons and drones.

You forgot to mention they received full support and cover from NATO member state Turkey which also was allowed to leave its occupation fortified post in Morek and elsewhere in Idlib for no good reason.
