Protesters clash with security forces in Baghdad
Dozens of protesters clashed with security forces in al Khlani Square in central #Baghdad on Sunday.
Gunshots were heard during clashes, and anti-riot police used teargas and smoke bombs to disperse the protesters.
A number of those demonstrating were injured during the clashes, and were treated by volunteer medics on the street, while others were taken to hospitals.
Tents belonging to those occupying the square were set on fire on Saturday night by security forces, according to claims by protesters.
Mass anti-government protests erupted late last year, when thousands of Iraqis took to the streets in Baghdad and the predominately Shiite provinces in southern Iraq to decry what they call rampant government corruption, poor services and lack of employment.
At least 500 people have died under fire from security forces who have used live rounds and tear gas to disperse crowds.
