A memorial for the victims of the Siege of Leningrad is set to be inaugurated in Jerusalem on Thursday, January 23. Russian President Vladimir Putin is expected to take part in the opening ceremony. He will deliver a speech in memory of the people killed in what is known to be one of the longest and deadliest sieges in history.

The event is part of the 5th World Holocaust Forum taking place in Yad Vashem remembrance center on Thursday. The forum marks 75 years since the liberation of Auschwitz and the International Holocaust Remembrance day. Several world leaders including French President Emmanuel Macron and UK’s Prince Charles are expected to attend.
