Harvesting almonds in our front yard urban food forest!
Hello @dtube community!!! This is our very first video for Dtube! We are very excited to be sharing here!!! My name is Jake....and I live in Southern Utah. Our home is on 1/4 acre lot...in a very typical neighborhood found throughout the United States. About 10 years ago...we decided to start planting fruit and nut trees on this urban lot. Today...we now have over 100 fruit and nut trees and we are increasing the number every year. SO much you can cram onto these urban lots...and urban sprawls!! Food forests are our urban reality! It is our greatest JOY....to share our food forest and garden with others....and to be inspired by all of YOU!
Today...for our first @dtube video we are going to share what we is coming off the trees right now. We are out harvesting almonds...so we thought we would share that with you. We have three almond trees total. "All in one almond"...."nonpareil" and NE plus ultra. These three varieties have grown wonderfully for us!!! Each year they dump buckets of almonds on us. In this short video I show one method we use...to gather a LOT of them at once.

LOVE this video! Super great quality and inspiring stuff (but what's new there?!) I really loved seeing this almond harvest. We may get more almond going this fall cause, why the heck not? DO you have a favorite? I see a lot of myself in you and that is a refreshing mirror, I don't get that a lot (not in a narcissistic kind of way though).
I'm continually inspired by what ya'll got going on. A truly fantastic example of a MUCH more loving way to steward the land in neighborhoods.

gosh...i love ya'll!!!!!!! thank you from my heart!!!! my favorite among our three is the nonpareil. they were the only cultivars...that were available locally...when i planted 10 years ago. if i had more space like you ...i would branch out into many of the other cultivars. we never have had an issue with pollination with the NEplus sitting next to the nonpareil though. ;) i see A LOT of myself in you too!!!!! i totally feel you on that one. i've met many people on social media over the years...and ya'll had me at hello. refreshing mirror..... family and TRIBE!!!! i sure love how you express via the word!!! you're my.brother...and sister! i love dave wilson's list of almonds. http://www.davewilson.com/product-information-commercial/product/Almonds
