Piper GTT P2

in #dtube5 years ago

A quick look round a Piper GTT P2, taking approximately 60 seconds or so. Thanks to the owner, Dave McConnell for letting me film inside the car and engine bay.

Piper Sports & Racing cars 1964-1974 was set up by George Henrotte, Tony Hilder and Bob Gaylor.

In 1967 the first Piper Road car was produced. It was offered with a Sprite, Imp or A-series engine. Gradually a Ford 1600 format was settled upon.

It has Triumph Spitfire steering and front suspension, Piper own springs and rear suspension, with a Ford English axle.

The P2 (short for phase 2) was extended by 6”, and had twin headlights.

Sadly the company came to an end in 1974 because of the continual strikes at Ford and the increase in purchase Tax.

The GTT was made from 1968 to 1971, and P2’s from 1971 up to 1974. A total of 90 road cars and 20 racing cars were made.

If you wish to add more history and details about this car, then please feel free to drop a comment and offer up some specifics. I’d love to know more about it.
