D-Tube Wednesday: observing hummingbirds at sanctuary in Colombia
Hi there my Steemian friends and followers!
Welcome to my D-Tube Wednesday series where I share my videos taken at interesting places that I have visited during my travels.
Today, I will take you to a place that every nature lover would love, a hummingbird sanctuary called Acaime Hummingbird House. The sanctuary is hidden deep in the Colombian mountains surrounding the picturesque Cocora Valley that I wrote about in this post.
There are several species of the hummingbird living in the Cocora Valley and most of them (if not all of them) can be seen in the sanctuary. The birds are absolutely free there, they just fly around the trees and the feeders filled with some sweet nectar. They are very cool and fun to watch but they are extremely difficult to photograph so be ready to click a lot of shots to get at least one or two with a decent focus :)
I don´t remember exactly how much we paid for the entrance to Acaime but I know it was just a couple of dollars and it also included a free cup of coffee or hot chocolate, which definitely comes in handy as the only way to get to the sanctuary is actually hiking long miles from the starting point (or the finish point, it depends on which direction you take) of the longest Cocora Valley trail. But as I mentioned in this post, it is a truly epic hike as the nature is just absolutely breathtaking there. You might want to scroll down a bit to check the photos ;)
I hope you enjoyed the video. If you did, stay tuned for the next episode of my D-Tube Wednesday series. Thank you @dtube for allowing us to share our videos with the Steem community.
