Nomad Capitalist - A Book Review
Would you like to live a life of international travel, hold multiple citizenships, and stash money in an offshore bank? If so, the book Nomad Capitalist by Andrew Henderson might be worth a read. The underlying imperative of this book is to "go where you're treated best" and is based on the astute assumption that different countries have different strengths and weaknesses. For example, some countries offer more personal freedom, but others offer more economic freedom and lower taxes; some offer beautiful beaches, and others offer breathtaking mountains. As part of the nomad capitalist lifestyle, the book discusses how nomads can "plant flags" in different countries and pick the best countries for various purposes: one country for business, one for living, and another for vacation.
In my opinion, the book is more of a general overview than a technical how-to guide because it does not give exact, specific steps that one must take to achieve this nomad capitalist lifestyle. In fact, the author reiterates that different nomads have different priorities and that different nomad capitalists will use different strategies. However, the book does present a good overview of the benefits that a nomad capitalist can enjoy as well as some of the general steps and considerations that come with adopting this nomad capitalist lifestyle. The author mixes advice and personal experiences to keep the book interesting. Some of the important topics covered in the book include obtaining multiple citizenships, accessing health care abroad, opening banks in other countries, tax considerations, and investing. This book is a great starting point for someone who is starting to consider branching out and experiencing the world beyond their home country and is well worth the read. Video also available on YT
