Much ado about nothing.

North Korea would be committing suicide if it dismantles it's nuclear arsenal, or if they use a nuclear weapon. Kin Jung UN may be unstable, second generation dictators usually are, but he is not suicidal. His weapon yield in KILOtons - yawn, US in MEGAtons, is like bringing a BB gun to a .50 cal machine gun fight. If he gets lucky and actually strikes the mainland US, or hits the lottery and actually targets one city in the US successfully, his entire Country becomes a nuclear desert as each and every populated area is wiped out in the first round of counter attacks. Not very likely IMHO.

The US is not going to start an all out trade war with China, and put Walmart, Dell, IBM, Apple, Ford, GM, and countless other corporations out of business. The US needs China to pollute their Country, using their population as slave labor, to produce the crap that the consumers in the US are so addicted to. A trade war would decimate profits, and increase US manufacturing, two things that would undo years of legislative and corporate victories. Not to mention that most of the electrical components for our weapons and communication systems are manufactured right there in China.

It seems to me that both sides are participating in this saber rattling to promote, or at least discredit opposition to, the major increases in military spending by the US. It is a beautifully crafted show, and is working perfectly as far as I can tell. Instead of dismantling our ridiculous number of nuclear weapons, there is almost no opposition to the "modernization" of those systems. Whether North Korea is a willing participant or just being taunted or used, may be a worthwhile debate, but I see no reason to fear the 'regime".
