CYCLONE BOMB Snowstorm and Driving a TRUCK straight through it!

in #dtube7 years ago

Oh, the Joy of driving an 80,000 pound semi truck through the ice and snow!

This was last week during the big snowstorm that hit the Northeastern United States. I started out the morning in central Maine (which is pretty far north for those of you who aren't from here) and made my way a few hundred miles down to a company terminal in Central Connecticut where I had to park for the night. The snow was just so bad! I saw several stranded trucks, a few cars that went off the road, it was literally a foot of snow just DUMPED across the northeast.

The media called it a "Bomb Cyclone", now how accurate that is, I'm not sure :p https://www.nbcnews.com/news/weather/millions-face-snow-travel-chaos-bomb-cyclone-bears-down-northeast-n834521

Wow!!! It really takes courage to drive on ice and snow.

At first, you're scared. But then, you settle in and get used to it and learn how to just... skate over the snow and ice! The key to driving on ice and snow in a big truck is knowing that your tires have very little grip on the snow. Basically drive like you have no brakes! (i.e. slow and steady w/ no sudden moves!)

Hmmm... That's courage. "Going through even when you are scared" well, i may never get to know how it feels to drive through snow and ice because her in my country "Nigeria" we dont get to experience snow. But you can be sure that i already had a feel of it in my imagination. Smiles...

smiles back, smiles back.

tell me, what is the transportation industry in Nigeria like? I know you have a big economic city, Lagos, there must be plenty of trucks running around there making pickups and deliveries. Are they big tractor and trailer trucks like over here in the United States?

Also, what are the roads like outside the capital?

Well, transportation in Nigeria is still on the average as we still experience lots of traffic, especially in lagos, because of the population i guess. And yes, we have big tractors and trailer trucks here but am not sure it can be compared to those you have in the United States. The roads outside the capital good on the average. We can only keep hoping that our roads will someday be as good as the ones you in the United States.
Am sure i will also get a firsthand experience Snow and Ice soon. More smiles...
