There are two main ways:
1. Meetup.com and Eventbrite.
2. Conferences and events.
MeetUp.com and Eventbrite list different events happening in your local area and farther afield. Some of these events may be free, others paid for, some may be of quality, some may be bad. In my local area there is an event every 3rd Wednesday of the month- great opportunity to network, talk, get out of the house and there is free pizza.
