This is an eye-opener for me. I always imagined Singapore to be a free and nice country and could have never imagined what you described, especially the divide between the rich and poor
I think in every city there is always going to be a natural divide between rich and poor. Nothing much we can do about this while we still live in this crazy monetary system.
Research 'Gift Economy'. This is the way forward :)
