I really like the show too, but I find the adult community around it fetishists the show and a lot of creepy things end up coming from it. That isn't the case for everyone, but because of that I stay far away and would never really call myself a fan.
The creepy adult stuff doesn't really represent the majority of the fandom. We mostly just keep it clean for the sake of providing equal enjoyment for all ages.
