You are so right! I would love it there. I have the most success with bird photos when I just sit quietly for quite a while until they tend to forget that I'm even there and then they start doing their normal bird routine and I'm able to get a few photos.
I tried to watch a video today about my camera, and even though he claimed it was for beginners I had no idea what he was talking about. He showed me how to change all the menu settings, but left me wondering why I would want to change them. I need someone to say 'do this, now do this and now do that' !
There are plenty of benchs dotted around the lake so it is a good place to just sit and watch for a while.
As far as the camera videos go. I agree. They are far to complex and detailed and assume everyone knows or can remember all the details.
I'll do a few practice posts on basic camera features that apply to all makes of camera just to see how they come out.
If they help people to get more from their equipment then it's worth it.
I'm still not getting the best results that my camera is capable of and it is all down to me not practising enough and taking the time although you wouldn't believe it by the amount of photos I take?
I like your advice.
I need to devote many more hours just sitting still and watching. Now the summer is here. I have no excuses left lol
If I'm sitting outdoors making comments on eSteemapp or reading, they quickly forget that I am there and do their normal bird stuff.
That sounds doable. I'll give it a try.
It seems like a very ideallyic location. You got lots of great shots. I kept expecting Mr. Darcy to emerge from the lake. Those birds sure leave a huge hole in the tree. I wonder if they hurt the trees.

It's a lovely walk and as for the holes?
I have no idea if it hurts the trees? I doubt it does. The trees probably ooze sap to seal itself.
Great place to take a walk.. look forward on DSLR info posts. I haven't scratched the surface using the features on my new nikon D3500 . ..Cheers
That's a great camera Mike. I'll make a plan about doing the camera posts from the basics up.
There is a lot to cover but I will make it in small bite size posts. Otherwise it gets to much to take in if it covers to many things at once.

Howdy sir molometer! I really liked that walk around the lake with the wonderful views and scenery. That looks like a long walk, how far around is that? It's taken you a year to learn how to use your camera? Sounds like me! lol. Anyway, well done sir.
I haven't checked the distance but I guess it's about a mile around?
The camera is a whole different story when you set the controls to manual. A myriad of different options become available.
It does have an auto everything setup but where's the fun in that? 😋
I like learning new things especially new technologies. It's my job. 😂

Teachers never retire. We just evolve into new areas.
I'm currently taking a long sabbatical but will return to teaching at some point.
It's just what I do.

Howdy today sir molometer! What do you teach? I mean, I know you are currently not teaching at the moment. Yes your blogs are very educational. In my posts I try to teach a little history as I go and force people to learn something without them realizing it because it's usually part of the story. lol.
I teach a few subjects including computer science, ICT and economics. I've been teaching people how to program and use computers since the late 1980's and am still not bored with it.
It still excites and interests me to see what is coming next...Crypto. This technology will have as big an impact as the industrial revolution or the introduction of the internet.
People won't recognise this world in 10 years time. It will seem so weird that we kept our money in banks!
Howdy sir molometer! I totally agree with you, I keep telling people the exact same thing, that in ten years you won't believe how the world operates and blockchain technology now is like the beginning of the industrial revolution, that's what I tell them too! lol.
Seems like a quiet place. I would love to take a walk and spend some me time there.
I myself use smartphone and I like how handy it is. It is enough gadget for me taking photos and videos.
It's a peaceful place for a walk and lots of wildlife to see.
I too use a smartphone and it is super handy because we have them with us all the time.
The quality of smartphone images and video is amazing.
The main issue with smartphones is that everyone uses the same filters etc so they all start to look very similar.
The advantages of a DSLR is that you can set the quality of so many different elements that you can make very distinctive images and videos. Cinematic, bokeh etc.
Not that I'm an expert but I do enjoy playing with the camera's many options.
Shooting in the raw format allows you to pull out so much more detail from a scene.
