Light the World Day 6: "Judge not, that ye be not judged"

in #dtube7 years ago (edited)

Today's #lighttheworld theme "" Judge not, that ye be not judged" featured a topic that's relevant and very pertinent in our daily lives.

The theme of today was culled from Matthew 7:1-3 King James Version (KJV)

Matthew 7

1 Judge not, that ye be not judged.
2 For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.
3 And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?

"Judge not, that ye be not judged." This is not to be understood by judgment in the civil courts of law, by proper magistrates, which ought to be made and pass, according to the nature of the case and laws of the land. Rather, this entails a swift and harsh judgment which is mainly aimed at denting or destroying a fellow's image or self esteem.

We could judge ourselves, and judge of our own acts, but mustn't necessarily make our word a law to everybody.
We must not judge swiftly, nor pass judgment upon our brother without any ground.

Luke 6:37
Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven.

Luke 6:41
Why do you look at the speck in your brother's eye, but fail to notice the beam in your own eye?

SIGNS YOU JUDGING A PERSON

  1. Gossiping: What makes gossip so dangerous is that you are judging someone without giving them the chance to change. At least if you judged someone to their face, they could do something about it.
Why go around spreading negative news or reports about someone without consulting him/her in private first?

  2. Fault Finding: You are more enraged at someone else’s sin than you are embarrassed by your own.
When a fellow becomes too quick to find fault in another fellow or brethren or perhaps when you dwell more on someone's weakness than his/her strength.

  3. Non Forgiveness: When you are just too bent on not letting go of a person's past act or previous evil act.
" to forgive but not forget” is, as I’ve heard it said, “a distinction without a difference.”

For instance, here is a true story I would want to use to buttress this point. Although the characters aren't exact names of the persons involved in reality.

Leo lost his paid job and couldn't afford the daily family upkeep and full responsibility as his wife was unemployed at that time too. He (Mr. Leo) pleaded for financial aid from his friend Tony whose business was moving smoothly and on a steady progress.
Tony refused to help his friend and lied that his business wasn't going all great.

Leo then begged Tony to offer him at least a job position in his company but Tony declined employing him saying "Leo's academic qualification was beyond the jobs at his company".
Leo walked into a grocery store and stole some food items so he could feed his family. Unfortunately, he was caught on CCTV camera and was arrested. Leo's wife called Tony to help bail her husband.

Tony ignored and abandoned his friend at the police custody saying he has absolutely nothing to do with a thief.
Having been bailed by a kind hearted fellow, Tony still jeered at Leo and called him a thief at every slightest opportunity available.
Leo upon numerous life's challenges and the stigma attached to his wrong deed, committed Suicide.
Tony wept bitterly at Leo's funeral and wished he had helped him while he was alive.

Forgiveness means absorbing the debt and offering love and goodness in return.

Dear friends in Christ, If we do not judge others, but instead show acceptance and forgiveness, we can be sure that we will receive back acceptance and forgiveness from others. However, if we do judge others we won’t be able to help other believers, and even unbelievers but will instead be a harmful influence in their lives.

Before we try to correct someone we must judge ourselves in that area, and perhaps even judge ourselves as to whether we are truly in the faith.

REMEMBER:
Do not judge a book by it's cover.

" Judge not, that ye be not judged" - I adore your thoughts!

Thank you for the awesome post; hope to see more like this.

Thank you too
Definitely, more and more of this to come...

Who will judge in the future? The blockchain will. As it will know everything of importance.

I liked the 3 points you made, gossiping, fault finding, and unforgiveness.

The points could be made more clear, but can I also appreciate the dramatic flare you attempted to bring :)

Thank you so much
