HARDtalk 1.5: What is your purview if Independent bodies are to conduct electioneering processes other than government bodies?

in #dtube6 years ago (edited)

It has been a while now on HARDtalk series on Dtube, we have been working on several ideas to incorporate to spice up things. Meanwhile, on the show today we are deliberating on a volatile issue and it is thus; should independent bodies conduct elections/polls or be left for governmental bodies?

It is reasonable that the government had to set up a body that is saddled with the responsibility of conducting electioneering processes but it is quite unfortunate that they (indirectly or directly) exact undue influence and mount pressure on these electoral officials and sometimes threaten to withdraw their appointments if they won't corporate or listen to their whims and caprices.

This scenario interplays in our modern system of government between the electoral officials and the people at the helm of government which breeds injustice, unfairness and non-free conduct of elections. Therefore, it clogs the electioneering system which leaves electorates with no other option than a recalcitrant and unfit candidate in government.

But if an independent body is appointed by “WE” (electorates) which is free from the dictate of the governing body. It will usher in a new era of accountability of electoral officials to the system and there would be a free, fair and just election.

Thanks for watching,
Best regards,
Sam.
